“Nine years removed from his debut, he’s making some of the best music of his career.” Consequence of Sound

“Black Milk is a paradoxical artist, one defined by both wild reinvention and stasis… The music on Hell Below is one big wistful wash of sound, unified, but full of idiosyncrasies. Pitchfork

“It’s the layering and attention to detail on these tracks that further reaffirms that Black Milk is now firmly in his own lane.”  – Exclaim

“I marveled at Black’s ability to stay so pure to the essence and soul of hip-hop yet try so many different things that really challenged me as listener…Black Milk’s If There’s A Hell Below is why I love hip-hop.”DJBooth

“Black Milk Lets His Talents Shine On ‘If There’s A Hell Below’” XXL

“Black Milk is the rare specimen that, especially lately, has come to know his game so well that he both emcees and produces with ease.”HipHopDX

“‘If There’s A Hell…’ cements Black Milk as a fully formed leader, not just amongst Detroit musicians, but in hip-hop as a whole.”The BoomBox

“All in all, it’s a formidable and welcome installment to a catalogue that’s already busting through the seams with classics.” – OkayPlayer

As one of the most celebrated producers and rappers of his generation of hip-hop artists, Black Milk has conditioned fans and critics to expect the unexpected with each release. His first offering of 2016 is a live instrumental LP, The Rebellion Sessions, created in conjunction with his band Nat Turner (Aaron “Ab” Abernathy on keys, Malik Hunter on bass) and his drummer Zebulun “Z” Horton. The album is a product of a week-long jam session among the guys. It was recorded in one week and mixed and mastered by Black in another in December of 2015. Although the guys have appeared on Black’s previous works, The Rebellion Sessions is the first project created among the four as a collaborative unit. The album builds off Black Milk and Nat Turner’s incredible live show, honed over the course of years and more than 90 shows played worldwide in 2015 alone during Black Milk’s Play Like Hell Tour. This May, the guys will take their new show on the road, kicking off their Rebellion Tour in Europe before hitting the US in June and July.
