El Michels and Jeff Dynamite spin sets at APT
This Saturday, August 9th, El Michels (Leon Michels) and Jeff Dynamite (Jeff Silverman), founders of Truth & Soul are making a special appearance at APT for this month's Bump Shop Party. They’ll be teaming up with resident DJ’s Mr. Fine Wine, David Griffiths, Jared Boxxx, and Chairman Mao (XXL) for an evening of funk and soul. This will be an ultra rare performance for the Truth & Soul founders, so be sure to come out!
Truth & Soul is known for churning out quality funk, jazz, and Latin-soul with an old-school flair, and the pair are certain to heat the night up with their signature sultry vintage sound. Spinning together, they'll also be playing cuts from San Sebastian 152, the new album from Truth & Soul scions, Bronx River Parkway. Though based in funk and soul, the music coming out of their Williamsburg studio spans genres, with hints of everything from Afro-beat to garage rock. The label has been gaining them even more fans with projects like their remix of Amy Winehouse’s "Love Is A Losing Game" and collaborations between El Michels Affair and Wu Tang Clan, all while housing the most authentic soul music to come out since the genre’s golden age. The eclectic tastes of the label’s Papa Bears are sure to add another dimension to the Bump Shop’s usual lineup. Bring your dancing shoes, and prepare for the added spice they’re bringing to the party.
