The
Video:
Recently, emcees Donwill, Ilyas, and Von Pea, also known as Tanya Morgan, sat down with the folks at Vimby.com to speak on their latest album, Brooklynati, the state of independent hip-hop, the group's history, and much more. Mixed between performance footage from a recent show at New York's Le Poisson Rouge and a leisurely, guided walking tour through Brooklynati's own Yancey Park, Donwill breaks down how the 3 members came together and how their separate locations directly influenced the inspiration for naming their newest release Brooklynati. Von Pea also speaks on how the recession is changing the game and how the fans are hitting the Internet and blogs to find music as major labels falter in delivering the music fans seek. As Von Pea says, "The Music is back in the people's hands." ... And those people are rocking with Tanya Morgan. Vimby is in Tanya Morgan's backyard, and their backyard is Brooklynati. The video was shot and directed by Court Dunn, who also directed the video for Brooklynati's lead single, "So Damn Down." Check out the video and their newest album, Brooklynati now available via Interdependent Media.

The
Background:
Tanya Morgan is back with their third project,
Brooklynati, following the success of Moonlighting and The
Bridge. Since Von
Pea, Ilyas, and Don Will formed Tanya Morgan in 2003,
they have received high praise from media elites such as Spin, The Source, XXL Magazine and a resounding
seal of approval from the blogosphere. Considered by many to be our generation's
torchbearers for De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest,
Tanya Morgan will once again put their skills on display with the unique hip-hop
Americana sounds of their Brooklynati album this spring. Based on the fictitious city of Brooklynati, this release pushes the boundaries of a concept album by incorporating not only lyrical imagery but also cultivating a culture and mindset, which can be experienced through the City of Brooklynati Chamber of Commerce website:
http://www.brooklynati.com/home.html. The sites, sounds, memories, and events of Brooklynati were unleashed via Bay-Area based record label Interdependent Media,
the architects behind the funding and development of Brooklynati. Wanderlusts
can feed their souls at http://www.Brooklynati.com
