Fly Moon Royalty, the Seattle-based electro-soul twosome compromised of vocalist AdraBoo & producer Action Jackson, is proud to release their self-titled debut album, Fly Moon Royalty. The album, which contains previous singles "Android Love," "Back to You," "Lemonade," and "Do What You Say," is out now via Sportn Life Records and is available for purchase on iTunes.
Although Fly Moon Royalty is the duo's debut project, both have extensive musical backgrounds, and it wasn't until they began to collaborate that they truly felt comfortable with the music they were making. "We were in different collectives before," explains AdraBoo, "and neither was like the group we are now." For Action Jackson, the feeling is mutual. "I was making predominantly hip hop music," he explains, noting that while he still incorporates those elements into the FMR sound, "there's more room to play with sounds, beats, and textures that aren't locked to one particular genre."
The common ground and musical melding resonates throughout Fly Moon Royalty, and, for the singer and producer, developing that chemistry was all about sharing a creative vision. "We both just kept meeting in the right headspaces," explains AdraBoo, who cites songs like "Android Love" as exemplifying the visual writing and natural blend of textures that makes Fly Moon Royalty unique. "The album features both of us in a fuller capacity," remarks Action Jackson. "You get your hip-hop, your sweet vocals – it's our personalities being represented."
Their latest single, "Roxy," released today to accompany the album release, is another stong example of that chemistry. "Roxy" is the most overt soul/hip-hop track on the album, with Action Jackson appearing on the track as a vocalist, rapping a guest verse atop his fuxxy, synth-driven production. AdraBoo easily owns the rest of the song, showing off a wide vocal range, as she sings about music and love.

Originally formed in 2010 in Seattle, Washington, under the name "Sugar Water Purple", AdraBoo and Action Jackson quickly disbanded the name once they discovered that it already existed, which ultimately gave birth to Fly Moon Royalty. Having opened up for Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Allen Stone, and drawing comparisons to artists like Janelle Monáe and Gnarls Barkley, the electro-soul duo is prepared to introduce themselves to the world with their self-titled debut album, Fly Moon Royalty, set for release on February 6th.
