The Video:

Jarren Benton is no stranger to the outrageous or provocative; in fact, he thrives on it, and so when, a few weeks back, Jarren announced a June 11th release for his Funk Volume debut, My Grandmas Basement, and revealed the album's artwork - Jarren and his grandma, in his grandmother's basement, her holding a rifle and he a bottle of liquor - the question arose: is Jarren's grandma really that amazing?

To answer that question (hint: the answer is resounding yes, Jarren's grandma is much, much cooler than your grandma), Jarren is debuting a series of videos in which he interviews his own grandmother, in her basement - the same basement where Jarren and his grandma shot the album artwork - using questions from fans via Twitter. The video offers some hilarious insight into the relationship that Jarren and his grandma share - and also allows Grandma Benton to share some equally entertaining stories on some of Jarren's more memorable childhood exploits.

Jarren Benton Background:

For an artist with serious mainstream aspirations, Decatur, Georgia's Jarren Benton has spent his career going against the grain. One of Funk Volume's premiere acts, Jarren admits, "I love the music I do now. I do it in the safe-mode." That's rather shocking for an artist whose last album, Freebasing With Kevin Bacon lived up to its name, at least in attitude and style, evident on the single "Skitzo." After two successful digital releases and a video with over one million YouTube plays, Jarren is prepping the June 11th release of his Funk Volume debut, My Grandmas Basement.

Funk Volume Background:
