The Podcast:
Starting off Audible Treats Hip-Hop Podcast 179 is the prolific Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth with his reflective track “Determined.” The record was released with a music video shot in the streets of Paris. In the visual Trae reflects on challenges that’ve thrown his life off track while sustaining a hustle that’s kept him intact. Following Trae’s “Determined” is the Oakland rap duo Main Attrakionz with their Noisey premiered track “Cycles.” Noisey said, “On ‘Cycles’ Main Attrakionz give us a familiar vein of insight into their lives.” The track is off the group’s recently released album 808’s and Dark Grapes III. Up next is Symba with the meditative track “Stuck In My Ways” feat. Marc E. Bassy. Serving as a visceral song from the rapper, the track opens with Bassy’s mellow R&B chorus before Symba’s opening verse about how his ambitions have interrupted some of his closest friendships and biggest dreams. Following Symba is the Chicago based rapper ProbCause with his spitfire single “Back to the Future” produced by Gramatik. “Back to the Future” is a prime example of the rappers unique jazzy style and is off his latest album Drifters, which was premiered via Gramatik’s Low Temp label. Closing out the list is the 21 year old rapper from Ventura California, KYLE and his recently released track “King Wavy” ft. G-Eazy. Vibe wrote in their premiere, “KYLE is a man of many talents. The super duper California rapper has no problem genre-hopping from hip-hop to R&B to dance to pop, blending elements of each into his records.”
