MP3: Nooch – “Too Many” Feat. Fat Trel

The Source Premieres Debut Single From 18 Year Old D.C. Rapper’s Forthcoming Album, Sophomore Slump

The Song:

Joined by Maybach Music Group’s Fat Trel, Nooch unleashes “Too Many,” the first single from Sophomore Slump, premiered by The Source. The 18-year-old D.C. rapper spits ruthless, braggadocio rhymes that are complemented by percussion rolls that ring out as bells chime throughout the hard-knocking, synth-laden instrumental. On the DMV, Nooch says, “The music scene is opening up, at one point not too long ago Wale was the only one who got recognition nationally, but now more names are popping up on a wider scale. I feel like it’s more of an opportunity to get your name out from here, if you have a unique sound.”

A part of the new wave of rappers coming out of D.C., alongside past collaborators Black Cobain and Shy Glizzy, Nooch has positioned himself to take his place amongst DMV’s rap elite. While many artists strive to create a singular sound by which they can define themselves, the teen-aged rapper rejects that notion all together, hoping that each song is its own experience that simply adds to a greater one. “I’m young, but you couldn’t tell if you ain’t know,” Nooch says. “I’ve studied music and tried my best to put what I’ve learned and heard together to perfect my own sound, which really isn’t even one sound.”

Tentatively scheduled for a late April release, Sophomore Slump is the follow up to last year’s Rookie Season.
