Video: Lil Durk – “Habit”

The Chicago Sensation Explores His Most Expensive Tendencies in a New Video Off Signed to the Streets 3

Critical Praise for Lil Durk:

“Unshackled from any kind of outline, Durk’s pen game shines. His rise was dotted with blood-soaked tales that summarized much of drill’s appeal: ground-level glimpses at Chicago’s South Side that colored in the outline offered by grim murder statistics.” –Pitchfork

“Lil Durk continues to be one of the most consistent rappers out.” – The FADER

“the rose that blossomed from the concrete of Chi-Town’s drill music scene” – Billboard

The Video:

Masterfully combining emotional realism with extravagant boasts, Lil Durk embodies the tragedy and triumph of his home city of Chicago. Drawing a line between drug addiction and the obsessive need to buy expensive luxuries, Lil Durk examines his behavior on “Habit,” his latest video. Produced by Niaggi, the piano-laden “Habit” finds Durk listing his outrageous routine, juxtaposed with his acknowledgment of those who are not as lucky as he is: “Keep buyin’ designer shoes, this shit a habit/He tried that dog food, now it’s a habit.” In the video, a helpless Durk embarks on a spending spree, buying jewel-encrusted watches and balling out at the club, all while his bank account drains from over $2 million to negative numbers. “Habit” is the latest video from Signed To The Streets 3, Durk’s latest album, following the heartbreaking video for “I Know” (6.2 million YouTube views).

Lil Durk had an epic 2018, marked by multiple mixtapes, a label change from Def Jam to Alamo, a move from Chicago to Atlanta, and, in November, the birth of his youngest child with his fiancé India. The culmination of a five-year rise from underground sensation to mainstream star, Lil Durk pulled out all the stops for Signed To The Streets 3, his latest album, released in November. Drawing guests from across hip-hop’s generational and geographical spectrum, Durk welcomes them all into his world in STTS 3, providing stark perspectives of street life with a strong emotional center, enhanced by Durk’s superlative sense of melody. Featuring guest spots from Future, Gunna, Kevin GatesTy Dolla $ign, Kodak Black,Lil Skies, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Signed to the Streets 3 released via Alamo/Interscope, and peaked at #3 on Apple Music’s all-genre album streaming charts over its debut weekend.

In December, Lil Durk gathered his OTF label for Lil Durk Presents: Only The Family Involved Vol. 2, his new label compilation mixtape. Sharing a lyrical realism and skill with melody that endears them to their mentor Durk, the Only The Family vultures spread their wings on Only The Family Involved Vol. 2OTF Ikey flashes his trap-happy hooks, King Von flashes a charismatic menace, Booka600 stretches his emotional muscles, and Doodie Lo snaps with carefully worded threats. The follow-up to July’s Only The Family Involved Vol. 1Vol. 2 is home to “Crazy Story,” the buzzing new single by King Von, which has over 1.7 million YouTube views since its release last week, Trappin Hard,” a Chi-town slapper from OTF Ikey, released last Friday, and the new single “Let It Rain,” by Park Hill. The new tape also features Durk’s newly viral solo track No Auto Durk” (11 million YouTube views), which inspired the popular #NoAutoDurkChallenge on social media. Featuring guest appearances from YNW MellyTee Grizzley and Sada BabyLil Durk Presents: Only The Family Involved Vol. 2 arrives via OTF/EMPIRE.
