Los Angeles street-rap weirdo 03 Greedo is one of the most exciting and inventive voices around right now, and he already released one of the best rap albums of the year” – Stereogum

The Song:

A supernatural force equally gifted in bars and melody, L.A.’s 03 Greedo synthesizes the sounds of his city’s flourishing rap scene into a thrilling whole. Expertly conveying the everlasting summer vibes of Southern California with Mustard on the beat, Greedo shares “Trap House,” his latest single. Floating above warm electric keys and G-Funk synths, along with Mustard’s signature handclaps and chanted “hey” vocals, Greedo stretches syllables to deliver an earworm of an auto-tuned hook. Though his extraterrestrial croon and entrancing ad-libs define the track, Greedo allows his guest stars to nab the spotlight. OhGeesy and Rob Vicious of Shoreline Mafia each deliver action-packed verses–Rob Vicious boasts of his romantic and financial prowess, and OhGeesy runs through a full rundown of his products for sale: “Free my n***** Greedo out the muthafuckin prison/We still rappin dope, cookin’ coke in the kitchen,” concludes OhGeesy. Premiered by Billboard, “Trap House” is the latest single from Greedo’s Still Summer In The Projects, a project executive produced by Mustard, following “Wasted,” the Rolling Stone-premiered, YG-featuring strip club anthem.

Executive produced by Mustard, who had a hand in producing every song on the project, Still Summer In The Project is Greedo’s first full-length since beginning his prison sentence last summer. Upgrading and refining the sound that dominated pop music, Mustard crafts fiery West Coast instrumentals, complementing his signature handclaps and hi-hat rolls with bouncy synths and liquid keys. Ever an unconventional emcee, Greedo approaches the beats from odd angles, sliding entrancing melodic lines squarely within the instrumental’s negative space. Spanning 11 songs, Still Summer In the Projects displays the versatility and variety typical of a Greedo project. The project culminates in the gorgeous closing track “Visions,” which finds Greedo reflecting on his prison sentence and envisioning his comeback, ending with a confessional delivered by Greedo through a prison phone. Featuring Mustard behind the boards for every track, and with an additional appearance from TrillianoStill Summer In the Projects releases on March 29th via Alamo/Interscope/10 Summers.

Last week, 03 Greedo and Alamo Records unveiled “#LettersToGreedo,” a new website and social media initiative. Aggregating the best posts by Greedo fans who use the hashtag #LettersToGreedo on their social media posts, the new website is a testament to the passion of fans of Greedo, who is currently serving a prison sentence in Amarillo, Texas. A select few of the most passionate and creative #LettersToGreedo posters will earn an audio response from Greedo himself. Fans will also have the ability to submit audio or text directly to the website, and will be able to leave messages for Greedo at tel:432-216-2294. Promoted by Greedo’s artistic peers, including YGMustard, and OhGeesy of Shoreline Mafia, LettersToGreedo is currently accepting submissions.
