Song: wifisfuneral – “Luv Me Never”

With Over 13 Million Streams on Soundcloud, the 19-Year-Old Emcee Refines His Razor Sharp Flow on the FADER-Premiered Track

Critical Praise:

“‘It Don’t Matter’ puts Wifisfuneral over a raucous, Robb Bank$-produced beat, with keys straight out of a science fiction film. He raps about women, drugs, being fearless, and most importantly, ignoring people who talk too much. Never get too wrapped up in the naysayers and the time wasters; they’ll never help you be great. The song is visceral, it gets to point, and it should be played as loudly as possible.” NOISEY

“Wifisfuneral is one of the emerging underground champions who is proving he can play to packed venues across North America and dominate the online world.” – HYPETRAK

The Song:

A mysterious emcee with a massive SoundCloud following, Florida’s wifisfuneral has the mic skills to back up his refined aesthetic. Floating over a twinkling HenryDaher production, wifi works in lockstep with the crisp snares on “Luv Me Never“, delivering an impassioned monologue about his past relationships. Premiered by The FADER, “Luv Me Never” is an evolutionary step in wifi’s songwriting, elevating his formidable, introspective bars to a new height, echoing the vibey lyricism of Isaiah Rashad: “Baby I don’t really wanna be the old me/and baby I don’t really wanna die slowly/Cause if that mean that I can’t hold you closely/ then I guess it’s worth breathing for the moment.”  The first single from the upcoming When Hell Falls project, due January 27th, “Luv Me Never” proves wifisfuneral is one of the most promising young emcees in the game.

Explaining the inspiration for the song, wifi said,”I heard the beat when I was in my hotel room and the first line just came to me. I had an idea about what I should talk about. The whole point of the song was to talk from two different point of views: my point of view during the verses and a significant other’s point of view during the hook. The hook (“If you say you love then his actions should be genuine. If you hold me down then hold me down until we’re heaven sent”) comes from a saying my mom would tell my dad when they were always arguing growing up. I think the only way I could even feel confident about talking about the subject would be talking about my personal experiences. These are hints and pieces from several different stories, not one specific example. I want the consumer to manifest the story, relate to it, and feel like I’m talking about their experience.” wifi also gave a hint of what to expect from his upcoming album, “You can expect a lot of evolution. Black Heart Revenge was a great project, and a good little first impression but I felt like musically I was all over the place. With this project I took it back to the basics. Instead of adapting, I just did what I felt was best and was natural. This is all feel-good music, it’s all just one big vibe.”

After dropping out of high school and cultivating a rabid local fanbase in South Florida, wifisfuneral released Black Heart Revenge, an acclaimed project that earned millions of plays on SoundCloud and charted at #69 on the iTunes Hip-Hop Chart with virtually no promotion. Praised by Complex as a “raw brand of turn up music meant to be played at high volumes in his hometown of Palm Beach and beyond,” the momentum from Black Heart Revenge propelled wifisfuneral to the Black Heart Revenge Tour in the summer of 2016, wifi’s first national headlining tour. With When Hell Falls due in January, 2017 promises a bright future for the 19-year-old emcee.

Wifisfuneral’s growth has been organic and cult-like, with his fans spreading his music like wildfire with each and every release. EMPIRE Background

EMPIRE was founded in 2010 as an artist-friendly, progressive digital distribution company. After early success, and identifying future icons such as Kendrick Lamar, Sage The Gemini, and Rich Homie Quan, EMPIRE was quickly regarded as a tastemaker in the industry and throughout the past five years evolved into a full-fledged record label, distributor and publisher for independent musicians. With the company and roster growing at a breakneck pace, EMPIRE has effectively disrupted a stale business model by bringing its energy, expertise, and acumen to its artists and labels. Given its reputation, EMPIRE works with today’s hottest talent from superstars such as T.I. and red-hot newcomers such as Anderson .Paak. While remaining 100% independent, EMPIRE has also partnered with Atlantic Records for a joint venture, home to breakout star D.R.A.M. and joined forces with Republic Records for the release of Sage The Gemini’s Remember Me album.
