Song: Tuki Carter ft. Juicy J – “Jerry Maguire”

The TGOD Tattoo Entrepreneur Recruits the Memphis Veteran for the Second Track off his Flowers & Planes Album, Out April 28th

3.31.2017

Critical Praise for Tuki Carter:

“Shades of Kendrick’s flow and Wiz’s charm, and quite a backstory–it appears the spacey ‘Yeah’ is another step towards Tuki carving out his own corner” – The FADER

“One of the most talented artists in the hip-hop industry” – HotNewHipHop

The Song:

An affable stoner with a boundless creativity, Tuki Carter is a unique personality in the world of Hip-Hop. Trying his hand at menacing trap-style club music, the Taylor Gang rapper details a typical night on “Jerry Maguire,” his most recent single. Depicting a night of hedonism, Tuki adopts an off-kilter cadence during the verses before syncing with the militaristic drums on the hook. “Jerry Maguire” features a memorable guest appearance from Tuki’s TGOD compadre Juicy J, who is very much at home in the debaucherous atmosphere. Premiered by Karen Civil, “Jerry Maguire” is the penultimate track on Flowers & Planes, Tuki Carter’s upcoming debut album.

Combining passions for music, marijuana, and tattoo artistry, Tuki blazes his own trail under the Taylor Gang umbrella. Before music, Tuki was a full-time tattoo artist, inking several of the biggest stars in the Hip-Hop industry. In 2007, Rick Ross introduced Tuki to Wiz Khalifa, leading to a long and fruitful relationship between the two. In 2015, Tuki Carter dropped Tuki, which landed three singles, “Chirp,” “Good,” and “Yeah” on the Billboard/Twitter Emerging Artists Chart. Tuki followed up his self-titled mixtape with The Tuki Toker Tape, a reverb-heavy effort that focuses on the “stoner” side of Tuki’s persona. With his upcoming album, Flowers and Planes, which Tuki describes as the deeply personal but relatable at the same time,” the Taylor Gang artist will take the next step as an artist. Featuring “Commando,” a guitar heavy track with a video premiered last month by VIBE, Flowers & Planes releases on April 28th.

Tuki Carter Background:

Tuki Carter is more than just a rapper—he’s an artist. For more than a decade, the Atlanta-based visionary has lived and breathed art, embracing audio and visual mediums through his love of hip-hop and tattooing and beyond. In turn, he’s established himself as one-of-a-kind in an industry where status quo is far too familiar, touring across the country and crafting creatively forward-thinking projects while living life as an entrepreneur, running the parlor franchise City of Ink as co-owner and giving artists including Rick Ross, Usher and Young Jeezy some of his fresh designs.
