2.7.2018

Critical Praise:

“Toronto’s Tasha The Amazon is a Rising Star” – Pigeons & Planes

“Tasha is powerful, and sounds even moreso over these absurdly big, grimy, hectic, infectious beats”Respect Mag

“Rising up above her competitors in 2017, the artist has been making waves since day one”MILK

The Song:

Blazing a trail with aggressive electro-rap bangers, Toronto’s Tasha The Amazon redefines the sound of the Toronto Hip-Hop scene. Adopting a halting, triplet-based flow over an apocalyptic production from Tasha and her production partner Danthrax, together forming the production duo Bass & Bakery, Tasha crosses oceans in her new single “Intercontinental.” Premiered by NOISEY, “Intercontinental” finds the German-Jamaican artist spitting some of her best ever bars, snarling with menace as she asserts her dominance over the rap game. “Intercontinental” is the third release in Tasha’s recent flurry of activity, following XXL-premiered Ways and the video for Die Every Day, premiered by MILK. Those hungry for new Tasha The Amazon content should prepare for a blizzard in 2018.

Famous in Toronto for her energetic stage performances and her warehouse parties notorious for getting shut down by the police, Tasha grew her following in the U.S. with Die Every Day, her 2016 EP. Receiving attention and acclaim from  BillboardFADER, and Hypetrak for singles like Picasso Leaning” and the Pigeons & Planes-premiered Prayer,” earned a nomination for Rap Recording of the Year in the 2017 Juno Awards. Canada’s biggest music award show, the Juno Awards placed her alongside fellow nominees Drake, Tory Lanez, Belly, and Jazz Cartier and recognized Die Every Day as one of the five best rap albums in the country. A recent signee to the Windish Agency, now under the umbrella of Paradigm Talent Agency, Tasha took her frenetic live show on the road, touring Europe, the United States, and Mexico earlier this year.

The Background:

A bomb in a china shop, Toronto’s Tasha the Amazon is an artist, producer, and bad gyal. Notorious for rude stage antics and warehouse parties shut down by police raids, her unconventional lyrics deal as much with partying and hood mischief as they do with anarchy and civil disobedience. The German-Jamaican powerhouse released her debut solo project, FiDiYootDem, to critical acclaim in late 2013. Millions of video views and streams later, Tasha released her EP, Die Every Day, in late 2016, leading to a critical acclaim and award recognition, as well as a string of shows across Europe, the US, and Mexico. Look for new music in 2018.
