The Song:

Representing Brooklyn with a hard-nosed attitude and intricate wordplay, Siya is one of the more versatile rappers in the New York scene. Returning with ten tracks that combine traditional boom-bap with warm electronics, Siya announces 383 – For Roosevelt, her next project. While Siya’s last two projects split the difference between rap and R&B, 383 – For Roosevelt is purely a hip-hop album, stacked with hard-hitting beats and some of the best bars of Siya’s career. Her first full-length project released since her 2016 debut SIYAvsSIYA383 – For Roosevelt is Siya’s most cohesive artistic statement to date, as she takes on her haters, shouts down culture vultures, and pays tribute to one of her Brooklyn neighborhood’s favorite sons, JAY-Z.  Featuring appearances from Kirko Bangz, Baby Yon, and a bilingual guest spot from BYI recording artist Troopnastyy383 – For Roosevelt releases on July 28th.

Born in California to drug-addicted parents, but raised in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, home to Jay-Z, Mos Def and The Notorious B.I.G., Siya is primed for a breakout year in 2017. In 2016, Siya released the ambitious SIYAvsSIYA, her debut album featuring an appearance from Sage The Gemini, equally split between sinister street rhymes and wavy, electronic-influenced love songs. Beyond rap, Siya found success as a television personality, starring in all three seasons of Oxygen’s Sisterhood of Hip-HopT.I.-produced reality series starring five female rappers who navigate their way through the male-dominated music industry. Earlier this year, Siya dropped a Valentine’s Day gift to her fans with the Commitment EP, a textured and lovely collection of rap-n-b love songs and an appetizer for the more substantial 383 – For Roosevelt. She recently joined United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in both film and music spheres. “Siya’s time is now,” says Mike G, her agent at UTA. “Between her amazing album & work ethic, it’s just a matter of time before the world knows how talented she is.”

Today, Siya shares Your Choice,” a titanic banger and the first single from the upcoming project. Running roughshod over a hypnotic, piano-based beat giving way to elastic bass, Siya comes out swinging, loudly proclaiming her rap supremacy and her street credentials: “I could kill you in a song, or I could kill you in the lobby/Your choice.” Premiered by Elevator Magazine, “Your Choice” is a highlight from the upcoming project, showcasing Siya’s assured confidence, her ability to craft a hook, and her impressive lyricism. “Your Choice” is currently available for purchase, or available gratis with a pre-order of 383 – For Roosevelt.
