Brooding synths and seductive lyrics of dark romance make up Chicago emcee Psalm One‘s latest single “Maybe Never.” “I don’t want to be your guardian, I just want to treat you like my baby and love it,” she raps. Premiered with an interview via Rookie Mag, the 5 minute track symbolizes what Psalm One does best, creating music with provocative lyrical content that immediately captivates the listener. “Maybe Never” features My Gold Mask and is from Psalm One’s forthcoming album P.O.L.Y. (Psalm One Loves You). The album title alludes to the philosophy of polyamory, the state of being in love or romantically involved with more than one person at the same time. Announced with the tracklist via HipHopDX, P.O.L.Y. is set to drop September 25th.

Psalm One’s “Maybe Never” follows the release of the Okayplayer-debuted track “Impatient (Just U & Us),” which featured fellow RAPPERCHICKS member Angelenah (fka Angel Davanport). Prior to releasing “Impatient (Just U & Us)” and “Maybe Never,” Psalm One teamed up with fellow Chi-Town rapper ProbCause for their collaborative ZRO FOX EP, which received praise from Complex and Consequence of Sound. Psalm One is currently headlining her DIY Tour with support from Angelenah, Fluffy, and the Palmer Squares throughout September and October, hitting various festivals and venues in the Midwest and Northeast. Background:

Psalm One, formerly known as (Hologram Kizzie) is the first female artist signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment, a powerhouse of a label known for breeding legends. She’s savvy, self-assured and with almost a decade of rapping and touring under her belt she easily captivates her audience with thoughtful, provocative lyrics and exudes confidence. She has toured North America and Europe; watching her perform is both invigorating and inspiring. Having a degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Psalm knows the importance of education, so between tours and music production, she partners with Intonation Music Workshop to offer Rhymeschool, a hip-hop based after school program with an emphasis on literacy and team building.
