2012 has been nothing short of successful for the fast-rising independent hip-hop label Man Bites Dog Records, and now, as the year nears its close, the label is excited to introduce the newest member of its roster, Wais P. Early next year, Wais will release his official debut album, Pimpin Saved My Life, but first, Wais P is excited to announce his new mixtape, PV$$Y Rich. The tape will be released for free download this December, and in announcing the new tape, Wais is also unveiling the tape's first single, "Live My Bars," produced by Virginia producer Grussle.
While others are inclined to talk about it, Wais takes pride in the truth that permeates his music, good, bad, and otherwise. That said, this first single, "Live My Bars," premiered this morning by HipHopDX, is something of a mission statement for Wais P, and the perfect introduction for the uninitiated listener. Outside of his burgeoning rap career, and his history working with Statik Selektah as a part of Statik's SHADE45 Show Off Radio show, Wais has a lengthy, noted history as a pimp, and so when he raps in the first verse, "Slay songs for the masses/ Pimp 'till I'm 50, then retire a pastor," it's safe to assume he means it. "There's an abundance of exaggeration in the rap game," says Wais P, explaining the inspiration behind the song. "If you don't live a certain lifestyle, don't glamorize it. I've been signed, stamped, and approved – tested P.I.M.P. positive."

The Background:
Born on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Wais P is no stranger to the industry or the streets. Growing up, Wais was exposed to the crack/cocaine epidemic as well as the prostitution rings that ran rampant during the Reagan administration. This tumultuous upbringing quickly pulled the young Wais into the school of hard knocks, where he received an education that could not be acquired through any accredited university. Linking with two childhood friends, J Runnah & H.A.P.H., both of whom shared similar interests in hip-hop, they decided to form the group Da Ranjahz, where received attention from Jay-Z, Cee-Lo, Def Jam, and Roc-a-fella among others. During the continuous promotional campaigns to the west coast for their debut album, Who Feel It Knows, Wais reinvented his gift of gab that he acquired as an adolescent and applied it towards women. Under the apprenticeship of some of the nations top pimps, Wais soon altered his moniker to Wais P and his music career took a back seat to the day-to-day activities of his new-found profession. By 2010, Wais P became determined to rediscover his foothold in the game as he gears up for his debut solo album (currently untitled) which is being executive produced by D-Dot a/k/a 'The Mad Rapper'. Wais P's debut will include appearances from Joell Ortiz, Devin The Dude, Sean Price, Mistah Fab, Mario Winans, Red Café and of course, The Mad Rapper. Producers include DJ Premier, Sean C & LV, M-Phazes, Domingo, Frequency among others. Most recently, Wais P was selected to partake in the annual BET Awards Cypher, a coveted honor that he shares with the industries elite rappers, such as Rick Ross, B.O.B., Kendrick Lamar & Dom Kennedy among others.
