On October 9th, rapper (and real-life pimp) Wais P will release his new album, Pimpin’ Saved My Life, via Man Bites Dog Records. The album will include features from the likes of Action Bronson, Smoke DZA, Joey Bada$$, and Kokane, along with production from Harry Fraud, Statik Selektah, Tha Bizness, and more, including Stu Bangas & Vanderslice, who, on August 28th, will release their own album together, Diggaz With Attitude. Today, Wais and Vanderslice are releasing the very first leak from Pimpin' Saved My Life, "Run Up On Ya Bitch."
Vanderslice sets the tone for the track with a deftly chopped horn sample and crisp drums, while Wais opens the song’s chorus, rapping, "I come up in the spot looking/ Fly / I run up on your bitch / I run up on your bitch, like I run up on your clique." For Wais P, the inspiration for the track ties directly into the message in the chorus, and, as things seem to be for Wais both in music and in life, the whole thing is all very straightforward matter-of-fact. "If you see something you want, go fucking get it," says P, bluntly. "Go get what you want and never wait."
