The Song:
With the November 22nd release date of You And What Army just under a week away, Tanya Morgan is excitedly rolling out the EP's latest single, "We Rollin'," a track that will serve as the final leak before street date. Donwill and Von Pea have chosen to release the FCC clean version of "We Rollin'," so you can share it with your grandma or the neighborhood kids worry-free, but fans need not fret â the full, explicit version will be available with the release of You And What Army.
"It's about the road life, and some of the perks and indulgences that come with it," says Von Pea about the Brizzo-produced song, which was inspired by real events and experiences from past tours. With lyrics like, "And if you see me in your city then take off work/ You got a pretty pair of tââs then take off shirt," the unapologetic and funky jam transports the listener to a post-show party, where Tanya Morgan is found wading in a baby pool full of rumbling piano bass lines, handclaps, and supreme DJ cuts, compliments of DJ Low Key.

The
Background:
Since their inception in 2003, the rap group Tanya Morgan has steadily built a strong foundation of fans and admirers for being what SPIN Magazine referred to as our generation's torchbearers for De La Soul. Following the release of Moonlighting (available in cassette tape format) and The Bridge EP, Tanya Morgan earned critical praise and Top Album of 2009 list inclusions for Brooklynati, which pushed the boundaries of a concept album by incorporating not only lyrical imagery but a creative, multi-tiered marketing campaign that included Brooklynati drivers licenses, an interactive Chamber of Commerce website, a welcome letter from the city mayor, ?uestlove of The Roots, and more. In 2010, they released a free downloadable album called The Sandwich Shop, cleverly crafted from a selection of rare instrumentals from The Roots. Earlier this year, Donwill and Von Pea released acclaimed solo albums, Don Cusack in High Fidelity and Pea's Gotta Have It, respectively. They have since reunited for the next Tanya Morgan project, You & What Army, which will be released November 22nd.
