Critical Praise for SL Jones:

"With an analytical mind and lyrical dexterity to go with impeccable flows and harmonies, [SL Jones] brings a complexity that's rare."
- Complex

"Jonesy...we ride for you."
FADER

"SL Jones isn't your stereotypically lyrically lacking rapper."

- XXL Magazine

The Video:

In Decemeber, SL Jones released Flight Risk, his second full mixtape and third project of 2011, and while the Little Rock native has already announced a forthcoming EP with DJ Burn One, he's preceding that release with a string of Flight Risk visuals, the first of which is for the tape's lead single, "Actin' Bad."

The song is a lyrical display of sorts, with SL flipping patterns and wordplay throughout, and the video, shot and directed by Red Audio, offers a straightforward but compelling visual that puts the track's energy at the forefront and matches Jones' brashly defiant tone. A mix of lively performance shots - some accompanied by a scantily clad co-star trying her hardest to steal away the spotlight - and clips of SL in a stunning old-school Chevy Impala, the viewer is placed front and center as SL cruises through the town. "I wanted to let the fans feel like they were riding shotgun with me," explains SL, "bending corners through the neighborhood, chopping it up."

The Background:

With the Rock on his back and a Razorbacks fitted cocked just so on his dome, rapper SL Jones is striking out in 2011 with a slew of new projects as he continues to put his hometown, Little Rock, Arkansas, on the map. Jones' new mixtape, The Number 23, was hosted by Don Cannon, and the retail re-release offered a slimmed-down non-DJ version that included two previously unreleased tracks, along with features from Pill, Waka Flocka, Killer Mike, Trae Tha Truth, Yo Gotti, Rocko, and more, along with production from Lex Luger, Don Cannon, Shawty Redd, and M16.
