With the release date of Saukrates' upcoming EP, Season One, rapidly approaching, the godfather of Canadian hip-hop is unleashing his new single, "Megaman," to the masses. The man that helped kickstart the successes of Drake, Nelly Furtado, and Noah "40" Shebib was recently featured in Nike's ALWAYS ON 24/7 campaign with his song "Say I," also off of Season One, which is currently available for purchase via Frostbyte and eOne.
Coming off the heels of his previously released single, "Drop It Down" which features his longtime friend and collaborator, Redman, "Megaman" is a dizzy, electro joint that celebrates the hype of 80's synth-pop. The lyrics take the listener into the mind of Soxx at the club, pounding potent shots that give him the confidence and vigor of a prize fighter. "Just how Maximus from the movie Gladiator screamed, 'Hold the line!' you have to stick to your guns and prove yourself," says Saukrates. "And that applies to both men and women!"

The Background:
With a career in hip-hop spanning well over 15 years, emcee/producer/songwriter Saukrates is one of Canada's most influential and important musical figures. At the age of 16, Saukrates had begun rhyming over his own homegrown production, pressing CDs independently and scraping money together for studio time. His hard work paid off and by 1996 Saukrates had won his first Juno Award for Best Rap Recording. After working with such notable figures as Redman, Nelly Furtado and Drake over the years, Saukrates is ready to make his latest release: Season One his best yet. The album will arrive in three parts, beginning with an EP at the close of 2011 and complete with the full album come 2012 |
