The Song:

Pac Div, the West Coast triple threat composed of Mibbs, Like, and BeYoung, is releasing their sophomore album, GMB, via The Div Co. and RBC Records today. GMB, which is vowed to be their most heavy hitting release to date, is now available for purchase on iTunes. To celebrate the album release this morning, Rolling Stone premiered the Div's latest video, "Black Acura" featuring Mac Miller.

GMB is a seventeen-track experience chronicling the lives of Mibbs, Like, and BeYoung as they help marshal in Los Angeles hip-hop's second renaissance. The trio unite with other notable proliferators of this LA resurgence, including Kendrick Lamar and Blu on the single "Cross Trainers" and Ty$ on "The Return," and aim to reestablish themselves, and their city, as the ruling class of rap. "Bottom line, Pac Div is back," says Mibbs. "LA is back. We never left. We just continue to get stronger with every release and that will never stop.

It's not exclusively an LA affair however; for "Black Acura," Pac Div call upon their Pittsburgh homie Mac Miller to lay down a couple uncharacteristic bars, and to use his house for some of this video. "Chillin' at Mac's LA crib was fun while filming, it brought back the Blue Slide Park Tour memories," remarked Mibbs. Making the laundromat, a living room, and a dank bar look like reasonable places to start a rap career, the guys have an air of comfortable superiority in this first video from GMB, directed by Austin Winchell. "The energy behind this song has a very laid back yet aggressive feel," says Mibbs. "It's a perfect medium for what we wanted to convey to the fans: a quiet cockiness."

The Background:

Based in Southern California, Pac Div started rapping together in high school as an eleven-member crew. Realizing a group of that size was not realistic, they shrank to three members in 2005. Soon after the release of their first mixtape, Sealed For Freshness: The Blend Tape, the group received national attention from Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Source, VIBE, XXL and gained the approval of hip-hop legends Pharrell Williams, Ludacris, ?uestlove, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder and more. They continued climbing the ladder, opening up for big names like Nas, Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes, Ice-T, Ludacris and N.E.R.D. After releasing two more mixtapes through Motown Universal, the group left the label and released their first full-length album, The Div, through their own label, The Div Co. and RBC Records. After receiving much praise from the hip hop world with their first release, Pac Div is turning up the heat with GMB, which is set to be the most aggressive release from the group thus far with features from friends Mac Miller and Kendrick Lamar.
