Ethiopian born, Detroit based Emcee set to release debut album

(Brooklyn, NY April 20, 2007) International rap and spoken word artist, stage and screen actor, philanthropist and youth motivator MIKE-E will be releasing his highly anticipated album AfroFlow later this summer.   Unfaltering in his mission to improve the lives of people around him, MIKE-E spends less time worrying about his street cred and more time improving his community.

Born in Ethiopia, MIKE-E enjoys countrywide recognition with one of the country's most popular hits "Ethiopia (Everything Will Be Alright)." Stateside, the Detroit-based lyricist is most recognized for his repeat performances on HBO's hit show Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry, gracing the pages of leading urban lifestyle magazines including XXL, The Source, Slam, Vibe, and Complex, acting in the critically acclaimed motion picture, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown," and having his song "Get Into This" included in the popular EA sports game Friday Night Fights

MIKE-E recently teamed up with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to present The 2007 AfroFlow Tour, in support of his upcoming album and as part of an anti-tobacco initiative aimed at historically black colleges and universities throughout the United States. The tour marked the first time the ACS has  ever collaborated with a musician. The high-energy concerts featured MIKE-E unleashing his thought provoking, unflinching style reinforced by a live band, African drummers, dancers, and a DJ.

MIKE-E will release his highly anticipated CD, AfroFlow on his independent label Wendemé Creative in 2007. One can expect the same poetic prowess as showcased in MIKE-E's Def Poetry performances. Couple this lyricism with African-roots influenced production and MIKE-E's impassioned flow and you have one of the most empowering hip-hop albums in quite some time.
