LP4 Unleash Eighth Studio Album With Brand New Single Today
Critical Praise for Linus Pauling Quartet:
"A core point about the Linus Pauling Quartet isn't merely that they're a great psych band, but a great band period, able to embrace a lot of styles and moods and work them well. " - AllMusic
"Anthemic, stupid and selflessly unrestrained, the LPQ eventually attain self immolation of sorts during the sprawling chaos." - Ptolemaic Terrascope
"A quartet of Texas weirdoes who're smart enough to play it real stupid, mining that fine line between drug-induced idiocy and conceptual genius for way more than you might've thought it was worth." - Deep Water
The Album:
Today, Linus Pauling Quartet, the veteran psych-rock five-piece out of Texas, is excited to release their new album Bag of Hammers. With past singles like "She Did Not Know" premiering on RCRD LBL and the video for "Crom" premiering on Noisey, the highly anticipated BoH is now available as both a digital and a physical CD purchase.
Bag of Hammers is LP4’s eighth studio album, an amount virtually unreachable for most bands; moreover, they even have a three CD box set coming out this winter that spans the course of their decade-long career. Their tongue-in-cheek lyrics and unwavering commitment to quality stoner metal jams has BoH garnering rave reviews. "Leave it to the Linus Pauling Quartet to come up with something like this: a monolithic, fuzz-drenched, utterly badass chunk of headbanging stoner-psych-rock all about Cimmerian gods, post-Apocalyptic wastelands, playing D&D, and somebody else smoking all your pot," said Space City Rock about the album.
To celebrate the release of BoH, Linus Pauling Quartet is also unleashing "Victory Gin," the new single off the album that not-so-quietly ventures into catchier territory. Ironically playing off the fictional drink from the novel 1984, where "Victory Gin" is described as a vile tasting and stank, LP4’s single has an agreeable, lighter vibe that brings out more of their psychedelic side, while the lyrics paint a post-apocalyptic world full of approaching black floods and "Soylent green."

The Background:
Pure guitar muscle and Texas stoner metal psych insanity with universal themes like drugs, beer, sci-fi/fantasy, and Bongs of Power. If you like your riffs heavy, the solos unyielding, and the smell of the bong to billow out of your stereo, Linus Pauling Quartet is your band. This face-melting, idiosyncratic band has risen from a long hiatus to bring us their eighth studio album entitled Bag Of Hammers - an instrument by which listeners, partaking in the ancient ritualistic burning of the herb, can break down the walls before them and attain the pure, majestic, plenary seventh level of heaviness.
