(Brooklyn, NY March 28, 2007) LIFESAVAS are super burnin' in 2007! The Portland, OR- based duo’s sophomore album GUTTERFLY drops on April 24, and meanwhile they'll hit the road with DJ Shadow.

Rolling Stone says the album "...should put LIFESAVAS over the top.  JUMBO produces most of the tracks, using a dense stew of samples from Seventies soul, while VURSATYL inhabits a wide range of characters with a limber flow."

Check them out in Rolling Stone's 10 Artists to Watch feature...

Special guests on GUTTERFLY include George Clinton, Fishbone, ISH (Butterfly/ Digable Planets), Camp Lo, dead prez, Vernon Reid, Don Blackman, Maga*nut, Smif 'N' Wessun and Jake One.

>>>> What the Press is saying about GUTTERFLY

"Had it up to here with blunts, bitches, bankroll and bling? All worn out debating "realness" and wishing for that Tribe Called Quest reunion that never comes? Dread not, dawg: Portland’s Lifesavas are indeed the droids you are looking for. Some tracks are '70s fly in that Dr. J ’fro-rocking way (Lifesavas pairing with Oh No on "Double Up" is set to an honest-to-God flute-loop hook; "Night Out" freaks the funk courtesy of George Clinton himself) while others flaunt jazz like the Native Tongues crew at its peak ("No Surprise" and "Take Me Away" are the best De La Soul tracks of the past decade, with or without De La’s involvement). That said, Lifesavas are hardly retro, just classic and- as they suggest on the album’s surefire single "Shine Language"- getting their shine on the best way they know how." - PASTE (4 star review), May 2007

"The Lifesavas new project transports you into a '70s car chase sequence.  Gutterfly, an unfinished Blaxploitation film, is resurrected sonically through thoughtful emcees and powerhouse beats. With Camp-Lo, Butterfly [of Digable Planets] and Dead Prez on board, this hypothetical movie soundtrack is soaked in funk and attitude-- part contemporary rap, part '70s throwback. Tracks like "Take Me Away" and "Shine Language" combine smooth grooves, thick basslines and swift vocals.  And with an appearance by George Clinton, you know things are funky. Recommended." - XLR8R, April 2007

"Think De La Soul and Nas meet Parliament. In fact, The Prime Minister of Funk, George Clinton, lends his spaced-out musings on 'Night Out.’ Gutterfly is rhythmically complex, showcasing live horns and deep bass lines and Lifesavas’ trademark emotive lyrics." – REMIX (4 star review), APRIL 2007

"... A conceptual masterpiece... Musically, Gutterfly is sharpened to perfection, with Jumbo handling the majority of the production.... The musicianship and lyrical elements are above par, with a sonic cohesion that stimulates the ear and mind.  It will be a shame if this album goes unrecognized." - SYNTHESIS, April 2007

"Funky and dirty as hell, Lifesavas' second album benefits from a raft of guest producers, MCs and musicians-- among them Fishbone bass nut John "Norwood" Fisher, who throbs with rubbery subtlety on "Dead Ones." - BASS GUITAR, April 2007

"All the neck snappin' goodness I've come to expect from the Quannum crew... JUMBO and VURS haven't missed a step.  The title track, "Gutterfly," is on some especially boom-bap shit." -BEAUTIFUL DECAY (rating A), Spring 2007
