League 510, the Bay Area group known as innovators of the Town Techno sound, are proud to announce that they have been selected as one of five finalists competing in Virgin Mobile FreeFest's "Book The Band" Contest. Thanks to those dedicated fans who voted in the first round, the crew made the top 20 and were subsequently handpicked by Virgin Mobile FreeFest's executive panel for the final round. This means that they are one step closer to winning the grand prize of $5,000 cash and the chance to perform for 40,000 fans at the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, playing alongside celebrated acts including M.I.A., LCD Soundsystem, T.I., Pavement, Ludacris, Joan Jett, and many more on September 25th in Columbia, Maryland.
The four members of League510, who have accomplished a lot over the past year, are beyond ecstatic just thinking about winning the contest. "Making it to the top five in the Virgin x Sonic bids contest feels tremendous!" Monty from the group exclaims. "We put in a lot of work promoting to let our fans know that we needed their help, and they kept us in the top 20. And then to be hand selected to advance to the top five...incredible." Earning a place in the final round is the group's latest of several recent achievements, some of which include winning the mtvU Freshmen Five video contest, going on a national tour with members of Tha Alkaholiks, and even having a group member, DJ Blacksmith, appear in a recent McDonald's commercial. "We've had a great year and thanks to our fans, we're not slowing down anytime soon," they say.

Emcees TK, Mont, Mr. Knowitall and DJ Blacksmith better known as League510 are pioneers of a sound that is all their own, Town Techno. With a sound that is out of this world, League510's musical journey began in a galaxy far away from ours. After traveling the universe for years, they entered our galaxy and our planet shortly thereafter. With sights on our world, the quartet chose to land in the hills east of Oakland, CA. After hiding their ship deep in the hills they approached this new town with great curiosity and were immediately amazed by the vibrant culture that they found. Adopting the Bay Area scene as their new home, League510 wasted no time in beginning their new musical journey here in our world. Using advanced abilities, the four emcees quickly mastered the art of sound and gave birth to Town Techo, a form of music that would unite the people in heightened awareness; to show them to take action, to appreciate the fun in life, to believe in themselves and to believe in The League.
