It's pretty safe to say that there are thousands of songs that exist out there about love. And with each new one made, it becomes increasingly difficult for the next to stand out. For Kyle Rapps, currently prepping the release of his Air-sampling new mixtape, On Air, it's become pretty clear no such problems exist. The third single from the mixtape, "Love Love 2" follows in the footsteps of previous fan favorite "Love Love" and re-enlists the efforts of KRS-One and Homeboy Sandman for a track features each of the three emcees giving their own unique takes on love, all atop Nate G.'s triumphant synth chops and "love" vocal samples.
"KRS-One's verse talks about the love he gives to hip-hop culture," Kyle explains. "Then Homeboy Sandman speaks about the love that is found in the ghetto that the media doesn't ever really reflect." For Kyle's own verse, the Harlem-based emcee takes the opportunity to show love to those who may not even love themselves. "I speak to the crackhead, and tell him he a man too," raps Kyle, "Struggling, hustling. Muscling, striving, must win."
Kyle Rapp's On Air mixtape will be released for free download on August 29th. A week later, on September 6th, Kyle is inviting all New York-based fans out to celebrate with him at Southpaw in Brooklyn. The show, kicking off at 8pm, will be hosted by Homeboy Sandman, while DJ DP One will be spinning classic and contemporary hip-hop, funk, and soul throughout the evening. In addition to Kyle's headlining set, the show will feature performances from Y-Love & Diwon, Rasheed Chappell, Silent Knight, and Aaron Cohen, along with live burlesque performances by Calamity Chang. Kyle will also be using the occasion to premier the video for "Universe Traveler," On-Air's Talib Kweli-featuring lead single. Tickets for the show are $10.
On September 3rd, Kyle will be performing at this years New York leg of Rock The Bells, performing on the Grind Time Stage. Fans should continue to check KyleRapps.com, where additional details on Kyle's Rock The Bells performance will be announced going forward.

By age 20, Princeton, New Jersey native Kyle Rapps started winning poetry slams in NYC with a concept-strong, socially sharp raw hip-hop delivery. Once he graduated from Rutgers University, he had already opened for big name acts like Wyclef Jean, Fat Joe, Talib Kweli and Dead Prez with his group, Thought Breakers. And once he decided to change his name to Kyle Rapps, he was getting ready to release the single "Love, Love" with KRS-One and Homeboy Sandman, which eventually went on to reach #1 on the college radio charts for hip-hop. Now, fresh off his critically acclaimed EP, RE-Edutainment, which features Joell Ortiz and KRS-One, and production from Kev Brown, Kyle has put together a new concept project called On Air, which samples from one of his favorite artists, the French-electro DJ duo, Air. The album features Talib Kweli and C-Rayz Walz, along with previous artists like KRS-One and Homeboy Sandman, and will be released this summer.
