(October 7, 2010 - Brooklyn New York) Grammy Nominated emcee, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Kokayi, is excited to announce the release of his sophomore album, Robots & Dinosaurs. The album will see it's physical release on October 19th via New York based QN5 Music

The album's rather unique title, Robots & Dinosaurs, while deep in meaning was inspired from the most simplistic of desires - the Christmas present wishes of Kokayi's six year old son. "I asked my son what he wanted for Christmas and he replied, 'robots and dinosaurs'", says the Washington D.C.-based artist. "I walked away, went to the basement and it hit me: the Futuristic versus the old school. I'm in both worlds, traveling up the middle and pulling from both sides of the spectrum."

Robots & Dinosaurs is a musical smorgasbord, incorporating a variety of sounds and styles, from hip-hop to electro, soul to acoustic indie, and more. To achieve the album's organic flavor throughout, the album is graced by a number of musicians including Ezra Greer (bass), Jon Laine (drums), DP (guitar), Trey Elay and a special solo by Stan Cooper for the track "RoxTar." The otherwise self-produced album does get a slight dose of outside help from long-time friend and famed producer Oddisee. The track, "Autumn Rules," was originally "Autumn's Run" from Oddisee's Odd Autumn tape and has proven successful as a buzz worthy single for the rapper/producer.

Robots & Dinosaurs is the first release Kokayi was able to record with complete peace of mind. "I was able to create the project on my own but still have the project mixed and mastered on analogue gear," says Kokayi. "It sounds exactly how I want it to." His concise vision for the album is driven home even further by the fact that fourteen songs were made for Robots & Dinosaurs and all but one made the final cut. "I realized my dream with this album," says Kokayi, and in delivering Robots & Dinosaurs he's also managed to knock one wish off his son's Christmas list.

The Background:

Kokayi (Carl Walker) is a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, emcee, producer and educator. Koyaki (pronounced "Ko-Kah-Yee") has already independently released his debut album Mass Instructions (2007), toured the world and snagged the 2009 Grammy-nod for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for his work as a vocalist and co-producer on "Lovin' You (Music)" by Ethiopian singer Wayna. He also produced Wayna's "Moonlight Rendezvous" which spent 7 consecutive weeks on Billboard's Top 10 R&B/Hip Hop Singles & 100 Hot Singles Sales charts. Kokayi keeps busy on multiple fronts with several side-projects - as one half of the electro-hop duo, Dastardly (with DJ/Producer Sharkey), and his long-time Afropunk outfit, TheCaesarz. In 2009, Kokayi signed to NYC's independent hip-hop beacon, QN5 Music as an in-house artist and producer. His forthcoming album, Robots & Dinosaurs is set for release in 2010 under the watchful eye of Executive Producer Tonedeff.
