On a particularly unremarkable Tuesday afternoon, Junk Science MC Baje One finds himself in the midst of a familiar situation - at home, in his underwear, wondering what to do. Relaxing more and more into the reality of his unemployment, Baje lets his mind roam to a fantasy about destroying an imaginary laboratory. This, to say the least, makes for a stark contrast in intensity between the first and second verses. Producer Snafu also shines through on "Hey!" with uptempo but lo-fi drums caressing an assortment of short, choppy samples. You'll hate to admit how much you can relate to this song.
Background:
Junk Science is Baje One on the mic and DJ Snafu on the beats. Simple. Their sophomore record, Gran'Dad's Nerve Tonic, is due out on October 23rd on Definitive Jux (licensed from Brooklyn's Embedded Music). In promotion of the record, and in keeping with Junk Science and (Embedded Music CEO) DJ Ese's love of beer, the three have teamed up with up-and-coming Brooklyn brewery Six Points Craft Ales to create a limited-release brew to coincide with the release of the album. Be on the lookout for it in your local bar.
