First Half Of Solo Project L0-F! Features Sultry, Stripped Down Grunge

Jack Davey, frontwoman for the electro-soul duo J*Davey, who've graced the cover of LA Weekly's Beautiful People issue and won over the hearts of your favorite musicians' favorite musicians such as Prince and ?uestlove, has been experimenting with a solo sound, one that's much more rock-driven than before. Says Jack, "This project is definitely a departure from the lush soundscapes and sexual overtones that make J*Davey special; it's straight to the gut, a bit easier to swallow, but still edgy." .
Following the release of Jack Davey's video for the song "Howl At The Moon" comes the rest of L0-F!'s front half, simply titled Side A, now available today for digital download. The first of three releases for Jack's new project, with Side B coming out November 6th followed by a deluxe version of L0-F! on December 11th,Side A introduces the world to her grungy side, or as she likes to describe it, "a girl, her shitty guitar, and introspective songwriting."
Side A is a five-track journey into the psyche of a songwriter entering a brand new chapter in her life. "I literally recorded every song in the walk-in closet in my Koreatown apartment during the few moments when my newborn baby was asleep," says Jack. "I was hearing a raw & gritty rock sound in my head & knew that I would have to create it myself in order to get exactly what I was imagining."
Jack Davey's head-first dive into frenetic, stripped down rock 'n' roll with Side A was, as she describes it, "a quick, harmless feat that started off as one long song with five different parts. Along with "Howl At The Moon," there's "Eye Can See" and "Tinted Windows," which both utilize racing drum machine heartbeats and distortion fuzzy enough to get lost in; then there's the methodical "The Only Lonely One" and the intoxicating composition of "Ride On," with all five tracks coated with Jack's relentlessly sultry vocals.

Jack Davey, one half of hybrid electronic-soul duo J*DaVeY, is at the forefront of a reaction against the over-produced pop artists of today. Some of her professional milestones include opening for Prince, the Roots, Erykah Badu and Janelle Monáe, as well as licensing music to CSI: NY and Nike Latin America; J*DaVeY was also featured as LA Weekly’s Beautiful People cover story in 2011. Jack’s rise into the role of solo artist grew out of a period of artistic stagnation, coupled with the birth of her first child and the imperative to bring to light the new, raw sound playing in her head. The constantly evolving Davey picked up the skills necessary to express her dynamic vision, learning to play guitar so she could convey her intentions in a solo format with her new double EP L0-F!. For L0-F! Side A, Jack summons up kindred spirit Iggy Pop, and intertwined with it, her bluesy, confident voice declaring a new, stripped down incarnation of the artist herself and an era of straightforward rock. Side B includes further instrumentation and is produced by her boyfriend, Joey Strat of The Knux. L0-F! Side A will be released October 2nd, with Side B following on November 6th, and a deluxe edition including both EP’s, three new songs, and a digital booklet on December 11th.
