Relentless: not a bad word to describe rapper, (semi?) reformed street brawler, and sought after, Hells Angels-trained tattoo artist, Isaiah Toothtaker. And with his latest album, Illuminati Thug Mafia, the Tucson, Arizona-hailing rapper continues to be just that, keeping the punches rolling with yet another single, this time one of the more understated songs from an album that has supplied neck-snapping previous singles including "Intruder" and "Baby," both of which were accompanied by lo-fi, not-so-safe-for-work videos.
The latest single, "Faith No More," for which Isaiah will also be releasing a video, kicks off like a horror movie, with tapes wheeling, organs squealing, and rolling cymbals running through the background. Hopping into the chorus, the gritty production, provided by Mainframe, best know for his work as one-half of Johnson & Johnson with LA rapper Blu, continues as a thick brass line provides a heavy stomp. All the while, ITT's vocals are heard, blaring overhead like a siren, calling out, "It's over, over, overboard / Run for cover, swim for shore / Forewarned, before the storm / Good lord, faith no more." Queue, then, the verses, with Isaiah once again providing dark, vivid imagery to accompany his slick flow, as he raps, "Nobody can hide, no one can run/ It's kingdom come, for old and young/ Even the deaf, dumb, and blind succumb... Money grip pack gun/ But can't take it when done, under the black sun."

The Background:
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona in a broken home, Isaiah Toothtaker was kicked out at age 11 and quickly learned to defend himself, often resorting to violence. Throughout his violent young adulthood, Isaiah relied on music to identify with and it provided the soundtrack to his teenage antics of stealing cassettes and walkmans and riding the public transport all city to tag, battle rap, sell dime bags and acid tabs, and fist fight. He began tattooing under the tutelage of the local Hells Angels, leading him to open his own parlor, STARING WITHOUT CARING, which has won numerous Best in City awards over the years. Throughout all the trouble, Isaiah has been able to duck or beat charges, until recently, when he landed multiple violent felonies on record. Built from misery and built to destroy, he has since co-founded the label Machina Muerte with Mestizo, the duo also forming the group HUMANSUIT. Since 2001, Isaiah has independently released one EP and three full-length albums (one with rapper Murs) and his forthcoming album Illuminati Thug Mafia is available now via Machina Muerte/Alpha Pup Records.
