The Song: Illmaculate has long since proven himself skilled as a rapper. Over the years, the Portland, Oregon native and Sandpeople member holds the distinction of being the youngest rapper to ever win Scribble Jam, an honor he followed by winning back-to-back championships at the internationally recognized World Rap Championships. Now, Illmaculate is excited to announce the release of his forthcoming album, Skrill Talk. The album, being released April 17th via Wapikya Records, includes features from Inspectah Deck, Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Sandpeople and more. To celebrate the announcement, Illmaculate is releasing the album's latest single, "Territorial," which calls on the help of guest rapper OnlyOne. "I think the message is conveyed in the title alone," explains Illmaculate. "The song is about all the things I'm territorial of: my family; my neighborhood; my block." This song, along with most of the Skrill Talk, was produced by G_Force and Trox Diesel, and developing such a close working relationship benefited the construction of the track. "I recorded to an unfinished version of the beat, produced by G_Force," notes Illmac, "then Trox blessed the song with all the final touches." Illmaculate also recently released a video from his album's lead single, "Under Their Radar, Over Their Head." The Sam Lingle-directed visual for the single, like the production, is clean but dark. "I wanted to do a performance-based video," says Illmac, "with gritty aspects to highlight those same attributes in the song." The Background: Illmaculate is an emcee from Portland, Oregon. In 2004, he took up the challenge of battling in the Scribble Jam festival, which Eminem, Brother Ali, and Sage Francis have famously taken part of. That year, Illmaculate became (and still remains) the youngest person to ever win the Scribble Jam emcee battle. He went on to win back-to-back titles in the internationally recognized World Rap Championships hosted by Jumpoff.TV. He has since gained exposure through XXL Magazine and heavy rotation on MTVu.
