"Razor Bumps" is the opening track off the new self-titled album from Iller Than Theirs. Members Krayo and Tone Tank of Iller Than Theirs believe tha with all the complaints people have about hip-hop, and all the obstacles they encounter in their own lives, what is really needed is some real, talented, truth-telling lyricism. "Razor Bumps" stays true to this spirit - its sharp-snapping snares, grinding guitar hook, and eerily echoed organ fills bite aggressively at the heels of pretenders, actors, and false prophets. Says MC Krayo, "This song is about people who pretend to be cool, fly or tough on television and how they are suckers and liars. Nobody's too fly to fart or too tough to get their heart broke."
The Background:
Both Krayo and Tone Tank are Brooklyn-bred rappers whose art is hip-hop and whose craft is well honed. Part of the Nuk Fam collective that also spawned Junk Science's debut Feeding Einstein, Iller Than Theirs brought in DJ Snafu, Scott Thorough, and J. Howells Werthman for production on the album, and Mastah Ace and Cool Calm Pete join the party to drop verses as well. This collection of ill rhymes will arrive on September 18, courtesy of Embedded Music. True to the Nuk Fam style, Iller brings intelligent rhymes that hold up to the closest inspection, and classic-sounding boom-bap beats that don't fade in the sunlight.
