They've already been named "Band To Watch" by Stereogum and paid an Honorable Mention in L Magazine's "8 Bands You Need To Hear." Now you can relive their residency at Pianos, with MTV Desi's Brownout live footage. The dreamy indie outfit has a taste for lo-fi digital samples and unusual instruments like gongs, glockenspiel and the occasional pot lid resulting in a sound, "like a tape from 1992 that the cat's attacked." "'Wavlngth' was sort of our answer to all the lo-fi surfy music out there. At first we were making it almost as a joke, or as a song that sums up in our eyes the essence of all that kind of music that has been coming out," explains Fareed, "but then when I wrote the vocal melody for the chorus, it turned into something else..." The haunting falsetto of Fareed Sajan pays homage to Sigur Rós, Grizzly Bear, Michael Jackson and 90s R&B influences like R. Kelly. "To me its all about trying to convey a feeling without words. I would say the feeling I get from 'Wavlngth' is feeling ecstatic, extreme joy to the point of not knowing what face to make. An intersection of 3 or more emotions that results in crazy behavior."
