The Video: Earlier this year, Full \|REBEL\| Jacket emerged on the scene with the release of their debut EP, *the REBEL EP. The project features Full \|REBEL\| Jacket's inclination towards the Country Rap Tunes sound that the duo's rappers, G and Q grew up on in Dallas and Anchorage, respectively, before meeting and forming in Phoenix, Arizona. The EP, released for free and available via the duo's Bandcamp, includes features from the likes of BJ The Chicago Kid, Big Rube, Nikkiya, Chalie Boy, and more. Today, Full \|REBEL\| Jacket is releasing the video for "Monte Carlo," the latest single from the REBEL EP, and one, both by name and sound, that fits snuggly in the Country Rap Tunes lexicon. The song is about "reaching your inner potential, whatever that means to you," says Q. "We wanted to show the inner struggle that we all go through when dealing with monotony of every day life." The video, directed by Full \|REBEL\| Jacket, in conjunction with The Rebel Collective, and premiered today by The Smoking Section, plays off that concept, as the clip, beautifully shot in the Arizona desert, depicts a man struggling but persevering as he drags chains through the desert. "The idea came from a conversation Q and I had with a friend of ours," recalls G. "We just evolved that concept so the chains represent the obstacles that we all need to overcome to reach our potential – it's all about struggle and triumph." Formed in 2009 after a parking lot freestyle revealed that the two differing-skilled rappers had a chemistry, the duo of G, a Dallas, Texas native and rhyme partner Q, an Alaskan transplant, released their first two mixtapes under the name American Negro before reconfiguring themselves as Full \|REBEL\| Jacket during the making of their 2010 Loose Leaf series, a weekly installment of recorded freestyles the two compiled into a release. Packed with a moniker that fit the duo's mysterious aesthetic and inventive voice, Full \|REBEL\| Jacket began work on this year's the REBEL EP, the first project to find G and Q contributing their own beats and instrumentation to each track, and the result is Full \|REBEL\| Jacket's most concise and powerful project yet.
