The Song: Next week, on September 3rd, Full \|REBEL\| Jacket will release their new EP, the REBEL EP. The project, which will be offered to fans as a free download, includes features from Big Rube, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Nikkiya, who have shown up on previous EP leaks "Stray Bullet," "Purple Lights," and "Higher," respectively, along with a guest shot from Houston favorite Chalie Boy and others. Today, Full \|REBEL\| Jacket is releasing their first solo leak from the REBEL EP, with the song "Bacon." "Bacon" comes as a change of pace from previous single "Higher," a slowed, low-end jazzy affair, with this new track showing off the Phoenix – by way of Dallas and Anchorage – duo's raw, go-getter side. "The message behind this record is simple: Grind hard," says one-half of the duo, G, noting that the hook was inspired by an old Pimp C line. The beat, a stripped-down, guitar- and organ-driven track, fits well into that vibe, as G and Q, who makes up the other half of the duo, rap about the persistence and consistency that it takes to win. "Every day a nia wake up/ I'm dreaming about the future," raps G, vowing later in his verse to never loose his artistic path. Formed in 2009 after a parking lot freestyle revealed that the two differing-skilled rappers had a chemistry, the duo of G, a Dallas, Texas native and rhyme partner Q, an Alaskan transplant, released their first two mixtapes under the name American Negro before reconfiguring themselves as Full \|REBEL\| Jacket during the making of their 2010 Loose Leaf series, a weekly installment of recorded freestyles the two compiled into a release. Packed with a moniker that fit the duo's mysterious aesthetic and inventive voice, Full \|REBEL\| Jacket began work on this year's the REBEL EP, the first project to find G and Q contributing their own beats and instrumentation to each track, and the result is Full \|REBEL\| Jacket's most concise and powerful project yet.
