Grammy award winning hip-hop pioneer Q-Tip is set to release his highly anticipated new album The Renaissance (Universal Motown) on November 4th. To launch the album's long-awaited entry into the marketplace, Q-Tip will be appearing at 12:00 midnight on Monday night at New York's iconic hip-hop specialty store Fat Beats to meet fans and sign copies. His first release since 1999's acclaimed solo debut Amplified, The Renaissance is a versatile portrayal of a pivotal, multi-talented artist at the top of his game. Q-Tip, handling productions duties, taps into a unique sound combining live instrumentation and samples that is pure hip-hop. Since it first opened in 1994, Fat Beats has been one of New York City's landmarks for hip-hop music and culture. Located at 406 6th Avenue (2nd Floor), it flourished with the growth of the independent hip hop movement in the late nineties, spawning a successful distribution company and record label and becoming a symbol of integrity in the over-commercialized world of rap music. Fat Beats has hosted in-stores over the years for releases for everyone from superstars like Eminem, Common, RZA, and Busta Rhymes to indie heroes KRS-One, Jurassic 5, Madlib, and Immortal Technique.
