"Flyentology" (Quicktime)
"Flyentology" (YouTube)
"Flyentology" was written by El-P after he experienced a near fatal plane crash. The emcee/producer has always had an intense fear of flying, and his worst nightmare came true on a recent flight. Shortly after take-off, one of the engines exploded and the plane had to make a rough emergency landing. In the aftermath of the traumatic incident, El-P reexamined his thoughts on faith and religion." I realized that my spiritual life exists only while on planes. During the experience I found myself praying, and I don’t even know how to pray. So this is my song about religion, which I think a lot of people can relate to. It’s my admittance of being an asshole who thinks he’s better than God until the very moment when I realize that not only am I not, but I really, really want God to love me and take care of me," explained El-P.
