The Song:

Next week, on September 18th, rapper Double A.B. and producer Dub Sonata will release their new album, Media Shower, via Man Bites Dog Records. While the duo has plans to release a new video from the album this week, for the song "Sunset" featuring Cannibal Ox and David Kiss, the rapper and producer, both being New York City natives, have decided to release a new, non-album track in commemoration of the tragedies of September 11, 2001.

The song is called "Outta Order," and inspiration, says Double A.B., came from "the misinformation that was spread to the public on such a hot-button issue." With the song, then, A.B. offers an alternate take on the day's events, using Dub Sonata's mournful, string-driven instrumental as he raps, "Look up in the sky: it's a bird, it's a plane/ It's a building, burning in flames/ Wouldn't trade with the world, now the world's gonna trade/ A few soldier's lives to put yours in the grave."

A.B. knows that offering an alternative viewpoint on the attacks may prove unpopular, but with "Outta Order, he says, A.B. wants to let listeners know that it's important to be independent in forming one's own opinions. "Always do your own supplemental research," says A.B., "and never blindly trust your government to have your best interests at heart."

The Background:

New York City rapper Double A.B. first garnered attention in the late '90s, as a teenager, when his demo was discovered by Blaze Magazine. The publication was so impressed with A.B.'s music that it quickly entered the rap upstart into its popular Blaze Battle, and while Double A.B. entered as an unknown, he left, burgeoning career underway, as one of four semi-finalists in the battle. A.B. continued his battle dominance, taking part in a number of national television competitions on MTV, before switching modes and leaving the battle circuit in order to focus on his music full-time. Since then, Double A.B. has released two albums, New York Minute and The Diesel, and has collaborated with the likes of Vast Aire, Scram Jones, and others. He's also stayed busy on the road, touring with artists including the GZA, Cannibal Ox, eLZhi, and C-Rayz Walz. Now, on September 18th, Double A.B. is teaming up again with producer Dub Sonata -- the two first collaborated on Double A.B.'s album The Diesel -- and together the rapper and producer pair will release a new album, Media Shower via Man Bites Dog Records. In addition to Roc Marciano, who is featured on lead single "Lord Knows What," Media Showers will include features from Sean Price, Rhymefest, Cannibal Ox, Evidence, and others.
