New Orlean's rap phenom Dee-1 has been busy on the road with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on nearly sold out 30+ date The Heist World Tour, but he's still reeling from the success of his of his latest mixtape, #TheFocusTape, hosted by his hometown hero Mannie Fresh. While Dee is performing for sold-out shows across the country, he wants to share his new #TFT video for the single "You Stupid Fool."
From the jump, Dee-1 addresses the fact that "You Stupid Fool" may offend some people; the catchy song essentially calls out all things "wrong" with hip-hop culture and life in general in Dee's eyes. The different "fools" he refers to are brought to life in his black-and-white video, and they illustrate all the idiocy that still exists today, such as Internet trolls, people who get their donks painted with candy company logos without getting compensated, moms who teach their 3 year olds how to p-pop and make it clap, etc. However, Dee offers these fools a change to redeem themselves with the hook, "Everybody put your right hand in the air/ We gon' take the oath, I solemnly swear/ To never claim to be perfect cuz that ain't cool/ But I refuse to live life as a stupid fool."

Background:
Born and raised in the heart of New Orleans, Dee-1 shared the same struggles as the legendary artists that put the 504 on the map, but he represents the city with a different viewpoint. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree, Dee-1 began teaching middle school in Baton Rouge, but as his buzz as an artist continued to grow, he finally decided that his passion for hip hop was too much to ignore and that being "Dee-1" gave him a much larger platform to be heard than being "Mr. Augustine." After establishing a solid street buzz with his mixtapes Still We Rise and I Am Who I Am, Dee-1 founded his own entertainment company, OMAR Ent. (One Man Army Entertainment,) and released his critically acclaimed album David & Goliath, leading hometown hero Mannie Fresh and esteemed producer 9th Wonder to reach out to him personally with praise. Dee-1's next project, I Hope They Hear Me Vol. 2, continued Dee's ascent, receiving thousands of downloads worldwide, while a number of singles from the album received radio play and airplay on MTV Jams. Now, Dee-1 is currently prepping his new mixtape, #TheFocusTape, which will be hosted by Mannie Fresh and is slated for release on October 9, 2012. To support the tape, Dee-1 will also hit the road this fall, for what will be his fourth nationwide tour, a 50-date run alongside Macklemore.
