The Video & Song:

As D.Black continues preparing for the September 15th release of his forthcoming LP, Ali'Yah, fellow Seattle heavyweights the Blue Scholars sit down to discuss both D.Black and Ali'Yah in this brand new video. Cosigning their fellow Northwest MC, Geologic of the Blue Scholars touches on the, too often overlooked, talent coming out of the Northwest, while making his feelings on D. Black's upcoming release clear, declaring that of all albums scheduled for 2009 release, "D.Black's record might actually be my favorite one out of all them." Before the release of Ali'Yah, D.Black is planning the release of a free EP for all his fans, and the new track, "On The Go" produced by B. Brown, is the first offering from the EP. Throughout the track, D.Black gracefully displays his lyricism over a soulful instrumental that preaches nothing but positivity, a rare occasion in a genre too often dominated by all things materialistic. Lines such as "Only in time will we recognize spill but in the in times will we recognize the real?" and "I wanna talk to the whole world and turn this rock back to a pearl" showcase D. Black's talent for penmanship, creativity and willingness to rap about life's intricacies. D.Black's new album, Ali'Yah, will be available September 15th via Sportn' Life Records/MYX Music Label.

Be sure to check out "Keep On Going," the first single from D.Black's new album, featuring and produced by Vitamin D. The beat was also recently taken by 50 Cent from an old Vitamin D beat CD and used for the track "London Girl," which is featured on 50 Cent's War Angel LP:

The Background:

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, D.Black's musical roots are deep, with his mother and father both involved in pioneering hip-hop groups in the Seattle music scene. In 2006, D.Black released his debut album, The Cause & Effect, a huge regional success, allowing the emcee to share the stage with Nas, Freeway, Bun B, Clipse, Paul Wall, The Boot Camp Click, and more. After being mentored by Vitamin D, a staple and veteran of the Seattle hip-hop scene, D.Black began making a name for himself by working on projects with producer Jake One. One such collaboration resulted in D.Black being featured on Jake One's White Van Music, on the track "God Like," helping to cement the Seattle emcee as a household name beyond the Pacific Northwest. Jake One and Vitamin D were also both instrumental in helping D.Black create his new album, offering guidance and production on the record. D.Black's new album, Ali'Yah, will be available September 15 via Sportn' Life Records/MYX Music Label.
