Critical Praise/Success For Clinton Curtis:

Holds attendance record for drawing the largest crowd to NYC downtown hotspot The Living Room.

Received most fan votes on FOX's Fearless Music TV.

The Album:

(February 1st, 2011 - New York, NY) Key West by way of Jamaica indie singer songwriter Clinton Curtis will release his sophomore album 2nd Avenue Ball on March 22nd on label 27 Sound. Today, Clinton debuts his first single, which is the title track, via TopSpin. He is also pleased to announce the launch of CC Connect, his new fan-club, CC Radio, his website-based radio station, and his revamped website, www.ClintonCurtis.com

2nd Avenue Ball comes at a pivotal time for Curtis, who was raised in Western Jamaica by parents who were deeply embedded in the local live music scene. He recently won the most votes on FOX's Fearless Music TV and set an attendance record for drawing the largest crowd to NYC downtown hotspot The Living Room. Taught by Jamaican greats such as Gregory Isaacs and Desmond Dekker at a young age, Curtis learned how to play the bass and guitar by age 10. By 18 years of age, he moved to NYC to study acting at NYU, where he ultimately set his eyes on songwriting. He began to work with producer Matt Stine and eventually signed to indie label 27 Sound.

Curtis' latest album comes on the heels of his debut Smoldering Youth, which set the stage for the sound of his widely influenced and eclectic style, which he dubs "21st century rock & roll." When creating the album, Curtis wanted to capture the "live band" energy that so often eludes musicians in a studio setting. Interestingly, the album name comes from the last track written and recorded. The track was chosen because, according to Clinton, "It really embodies the tone and spirit we were striving for which was one that conveyed the mightiness and joy of our live shows." Voicing this enthusiasm, Curtis pointed out, "If we're having this much fun cutting these tracks, people are bound to have this much fun digging them."

The title single captures that energy through the story of a mythical ballroom on NYC's 2nd Avenue, where partygoers have decided to rage on the last day of civilization rather than fearfully accept their fate. With a 60's R&B feel delivered by drummer Andrew "Komplexx" Mclean, the song charges ahead with passionate irreverence, keeping mortal toes in motion for the song's entirety. Curtis mused, "I had this image in my head of all the party people in New York heading down to the East Village in a huge, mass second-line parade to a mythical grand ballroom where the band keeps playing until the roof blows off. That's the 2nd Avenue Ball."

The title single is now available via an E4M (email for media) widget offered by Topspin. In addition to the single, Curtis is set to launch CC Connect, a VIP fan-club also powered by Topspin, as well as his own website and radio station.

The Background:

Clinton Curtis grew up between the islands of Jamaica and Key West. The son of musicians and reggae dance hall owners, Clinton was always surrounded by music and as a child he learned from local greats, including Gregory Isaacs and Desmond Dekker. By the time he was 5 years old, Clinton was considered a classical piano prodigy and by the age of 10, he had picked up the guitar and bass. When he turned 17, Clinton moved to New York to study acting at NYU, and decided to write and perform his original music. While gigging around town, Clinton caught the attention of producer Matt Stine and signed to Stine's indie label 27 Sound. Under his new label, Clinton's first album, Smoldering Youth, was released thus unveiling Clinton's self-proclaimed style of "21st century rock & roll" to the world. After successfully touring the East Coast and selling over 2,000 records, Clinton is teaming up with Stine again to release his second full-length album, 2nd Avenue Ball on March 22nd, 2011.
