The Show:

January 26, 2011, New York, NY – Soulspazm Records is thrilled to bring the widely heralded and historic Beat Society producer showcase back to life on Saturday, February 12th at Tammany Hall in New York City, supported by Native Instruments, creators of MASCHINE beat production system. Following a five year hiatus, the return of the producer showcase that exhibits the talents of both superstar beatmakers and up-and coming producers comes as a welcome surprise to music fans everywhere. This long-awaited homecoming event will feature the talents of producers Nottz, Buckwild, !llmind, DJ Revolution, and Khrysis, and the mic skills of Danny Brown, Malcolm&Martin, and more, with Evil Dee of Da Beat Minerz as the DJ and Stef Tataz & Sao as the hosts. Keeping in tradition with previous Beat Society events, several surprise special guests will also make appearances.

Born first as an online community in 2002 by Soulspazm Records to highlight the importance of the role of the producer in hip hop, Beat Society quickly grew into an internationally recognized entity and began life as a monthly party at Philadelphia’s Five Spot. Over the next four years, the Beat Society events continued to attract the attention of media, artists, and music fans everywhere as they set up showcases across the country in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and New York.

With talent such as Kanye West, Black Thought (The Roots), Prodigy (Mobb Deep), Just Blaze, Kev Brown, and Marco Polo passing through the doors of this showcase, it’s evident just how special and unique Beat Society has been to both established and upcoming artists. As legendary DJ Rhettmatic explains, "To be considered for Beat Society & share the stage with some of the most talented hip hop producers of our time, is a honor in itself. It shows that you have gotten respect for your work, from your peers and music associates. That in itself is more worth than gold.” A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammed defines Beat Society to be “a producer's playground for inspiration, demonstration, contemplation, bastardization and complete annihilation." Event organizer SlopFunkDust adds, “We're excited to partner with Native Instruments as a lot of producers have adopted Maschine.”
