Critical Praise For A.Dd+:

"The best rap album that Dallas has ever seen, front to back."
- Dallas Observer

"Another total jam from Dallas' own A.Dd+."
- Gorilla vs. Bear

"ADd+ admit that they're not stars, but they probably should be. This is the sound of two dudes rapping for people to take notice. And you should." - Jeff Weiss

The Video:

In 2011, A.Dd+, the Dallas duo comprised of rappers Slim Gravy and Paris Pershun, broke onto the scene with the release of their free album When Pigs Fly. The tape earned A.Dd+ accolades from outlets like Pitchfork and SPIN, not to mention hometown love from local alternative weekly the Dallas Observer. The duo kicked off 2012 with their first ever national tour, performing 30 shows around the country while opening for Black Milk, a second tour, this one around Texas, sponsored by Red Bull, and a performance at the Fun Fun Fun Fest alongside Danny Brown, ScHoolboy Q, and more. And while A.Dd+ didn't release any full projects last year, they closed the year by sweeping the Dallas Observer Music Awards, taking home the titles for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Act and Best Group Act, and being featured on the cover of the alternative weekly in November.

Now, to start 2013, A.Dd+ has put the finishing touches on their latest album, titled DiveHiFlyLo. The album, which will be released early this spring, will include 12 tracks, with production from Picnictyme, who produced all of When Pigs Fly, in addition to folks like Kuddie Fresh, Stompboxx, Fly Life Productions, and more. The album, which A.Dd+ describe as darker and far more personal than When Pigs Fly, pulls its name from a saying that stems from the early days A.Dd+, back when the duo was working on their debut mixtape, Power Of The Tongue. "We always say, 'Every man is a king,'" says Paris Pershun, "but DiveHiFlyLo is playing off that. It's like saying, 'Be above average, but stay well-grounded.' It's important to be able to always relate to the common man."

This Saturday, January 26th, Slim and Paris, joined by their long-time DJ, DJ Sober, will celebrate the forthcoming album with a headlining hometown show at the historic Granada Theater. The venue, fitting 1,200 people, is expected to be at capacity, and A.Dd+ is expected to bring a number of Dallas legends on stage as special guests throughout the evening. "This show is a major milestone for us, and for the network that we've built," says Slim Gravy. "There's gonna be a ton of hometown love, a bunch of spontaneous action – I don't know what the hell to expect out there." Excitingly, fans will also be able to purchase limited edition physical copies of the album, the only place fans will be able to get the album until it receives proper release in early spring.

Today, to celebrate the show and album announcement, A.Dd+ is releasing the video for "Can't You See," a track taken from DiveHiFlyLo. The song, produced by DJ Nick Nack, is a perfect example of the more personal direction that A.Dd+ is taking with the new album, and the video, premiered by Red Bull, directed by OG of Luxury Mindz, and conceptualized by both A.Dd+ and OG, follows in step with that personal feel. "It has a secluded feel; we shot the video in the middle of nowhere," says Paris Pershun. "We're relying on ourselves – that's the theme of the song – and it's made us the people that we are today."

The Background:

Quirky yet streetwise, fun-loving yet dead serious, A.Dd+, the duo of Paris Pershun and Slim Gravy, may just be leading Dallas towards a rap renaissance. In 2009, A.Dd+ released their debut mixtape, Power of the Tongue, a project that earned them regional acclaim and a "Best Rap Act" nomination from local alternative weekly the Dallas Observer, but it was in 2011, with the release of their official debut When Pigs Fly that the duo broke through. The LP was hailed as "the best hip-hop album Dallas has ever released," by the Dallas Observer, who also nominated the group for "Best Album" and "Best Rap Act" in their year-end Dallas Observer Music Awards. The project also earned A.Dd+ acclaim from national media outlets such as XXL Magazine and Pitchfork, with a coveted Chairman's Choice feature and inclusion in the "Best Of: Underrated Rap Releases of 2011" list, respectively. Pitchfork described the group as, "the spawn of UGK and Outkast, combining street and cerebral." 2012 already looks to be fruitful for the duo, who kicked off the year taking part in the Red Bull Skooled Tour, a seven-city run through the southwest alongside a collection of Texas legends and fellow up-and-comers. The duo recently finished their first North American tour, opening up for Black Milk's Claps And Slaps Tour, and are now focusing on their sophomore album, DiveHiFlyLo.
