Today, Pie-Rx Recordz, the new label imprint from A-Wax, is proud to release the Pittsburgh, California, native's latest mixtape, Pie-Rx Muzik. The tape, presented by Southern Hospitality, includes features and production from the likes of Iggy Azalea, YG Hootie, Jahlil Beats, Araab Muzik, Cardiak, and more.
Following his successful album released earlier this summer, Everybody Loves Me: Chapter 1, A-Wax is working to introduce his own imprint and the artists signed to the label. Unlike previous work from A-Wax, who has earned the respect of, and formed alliances with, the likes of Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame, French Montana, and more, A-Wax has turned in a new direction with Pie-Rx Muzik.
"I originally was going to let this new tape have all of my left over music," says A-Wax. "But when I got in the studio it ended up being me collaborating with a lot of my close homies and my own artists signed to Pie-Rx Recordz." The result of those collaborations is a collection of new songs that remain true to themes found throughout A-Wax's previous releases – the struggle and the hustle. "Pie-Rx is, of course, a play on the Pyrex jar used by so many to cook dope," explains Wax of the tape's slick title, "and that's what I did – I just cooked up some dope in the kitchen. Simple: No frills; no cut – just good music; good dope."
In addition to putting the shine on his close collaborators and newly signed label artists, Pie-Rx Muzik, also puts more emphasis on A-Wax as a solo artist – and that's not to say that any of his previous releases lacked his strong fingerprints – they didn't – but only that, with limited high-profile guests (Iggy Azalea and Araab Muzik, Jahlil Beats, Cardiak), it's truly A-Wax's talents that carry Pie-Rx Muzik forward. "I constantly experiment with new styles and my delivery and flow are more on point," remarks A-Wax, of his continued growth as an artist. "My recording techniques are refined and it shows in my confidence."

Background:
A lot of rappers make music about the penitentiary. Few can say that they learned their craft while incarcerated. Having emerged after a lengthy stretch in the prison system during his teenage years, A-Wax turned to rap and came up in the game old-fashioned way, selling CDs hand-to-hand and through Mom & Pop stores across the region. The hard work has paid off -- A-Wax has moved over 200,000 units, independently, no small feat, and the accomplishment eventually led to a deal with Akon's Konvict Muzik label. A-Wax and Akon ultimately went their seperate ways, due to creative differences, and now A-Wax is back on the independent grind, with a new album, Everybody Loves Me: Chapter 1. The album, which includes features from French Montana, Styles P., Mistah FAB, and more, is out today, July 17th, via Illburn Records.
