8.23.2017

Critical Praise for OMB Peezy:

“Sometimes all it takes is the right look, the right voice, or even the right beat to make an artist pop. With OMB Peezy, there’s a blend of all three.” – Pigeons and Planes

“This kid from Alabama is the future of rap.” – The FADER

“[OMB Peezy] is tough but melodic, with a youthfully urgent voice and production that’s indebted to Louisiana and California.” – New York Times

The Video:

An insanely charismatic teenager with a nimble and memorable Southern drawl, OMB Peezy is catching looks from some of the most respected people in the industry. Recently signed to Kevin Liles’ 300 Ent. and E-40‘s Sick Wid It records, the young Alabama-native continues his hot streak of singles with The Hard Way.” Displaying a fast-talking flow over minor-key synth line and trap drums, OMB Peezy crafts an infectious Boosie-influenced hook, warning his haters to stay away from his turf before they learn a tough lesson. Premiered by Pigeons & Planes, the video finds Peezy counting cash in his house with a ski-masked companion, shaking his dreads and smoking blunts as the music plays. The video is the latest in a string of strong releases, most recently following the mob-influenced Try Sumthin,” which features Yhung TO of SOB x RBE.

Praised by The FADER as “the Future of Rap” and as the “New Voice of Regional Rap,” the 20-year-old Sacramento resident is a natural born spitter, with years of freestyling experience and a supernatural sense of songcraft. Born in Alabama, the 20-year-old Peezy moved west when he was 12, developing a reputation as a rap prodigy, building a following on YouTube, and gaining the respect of the new wave of Bay Area artists such as Nef The Pharaoh and legends such as E-40. In the past few months, OMB Peezy started to parlay his grassroots local fanbase into a national following, earning millions of combined streams on his singles “Lay Down,” which Pigeons & Planes listed at #14 in their list of Best Songs of 2017 and found a prominent fan in Wiz Khalifa who vibed to the song in an Instagram story, “When I Was Down,” and Porch.” Last month, OMB Peezy earned a mention in the New York Times in advance of his sold out show at NYC’s Webster Hall. Beloved by fans and acclaimed by critics, OMB Peezy recently returned from a nationwide tour with SOB x RBE.
