Single: OMB Peezy – “Ride” ft. Paper Lovee
The Sick Wid It/300 Ent. Signee Drops a Smooth New Single Along with a Colorful Lyric Video, Premiered by The FADER
“[OMB Peezy] is tough but melodic, with a youthfully urgent voice and production that’s indebted to Louisiana and California.” – New York Times
“Sometimes all it takes is the right look, the right voice, or even the right beat to make an artist pop. With OMB Peezy, there’s a blend of all three.” – Pigeons and Planes
“This kid from Alabama is the future of rap.” – The FADER
Effortlessly funneling regional sounds and styles into a signature blend of Southern Rap, OMB Peezy is one of the fastest rising young rappers in the game. Floating over a sweeping dirty south slapper, Peezy lays out a mission statement on “Ride,” his new single. Stacking syllables with his signature tumbling flow, Peezy talks his shit on the new single, recounting his childhood struggle and stepping to anyone who would get in his way: “This for dem people who said I couldn’t do it/When I needed help, dey wouldn’t fuck wit a n*gga/Told you, I got you I got you/Don’t trip over nuthin/Before I go I’m touchin’ a million.” Featuring a hook from ATL singer Paper Lovee, “Ride” arrives via The FADER, along with a lyric video. “Ride” builds on the momentum of Young & Reckless, a joint mixtape with Peezy’s 300 Ent. labelmate Sherwood Marty, and proves that Peezy’s excellent run of 2017 singles was no fluke.
Born in Alabama, the 20-year-old Peezy moved to the west coast when he was 12, developing a reputation as a rap prodigy, building a following on YouTube, and gaining the respect of the new wave of Bay Area artists such as Nef The Pharaoh and legends such as E-40. In 2017, OMB Peezy parlayed his grassroots local fanbase into a national following, earning millions of combined streams on his singles like the virally popular hits“When I Was Down,” “Porch,” and “Lay Down,” which Pigeons & Planes listed at #14 in their halftime list of Best Songs of 2017 and which Passion of the Weiss listed as their #19 for the year. In October, Peezy shared his debut project Humble Beginnings, a slap-heavy six-pack produced in full by Grammy-nominated producer Cardo Got Wingz (Kendrick Lamar, Jeezy, Meek Mill) and released by Sick Wid It/300 Ent.. Peezy also toured throughout 2017, supporting Detroit artist Tee Grizzley in the fall and accompanying SOB x RBE on a national tour in the spring. In November, he collaborated with Gucci Mane on “Pray For Me,” a track by producer Adam Snow. In late 2017, Peezy shared videos for Humble Beginnings hits “Talk My Shit” and “Doin’ Bad,” and released a revealing documentary via TIDAL. Most recently, Peezy enjoyed a successful SXSW, including sets at the Revolt House, Sway In The Morning, and Facebook, which he documented in a recap vlog.
