Concocting a goosebumps-inducing hybrid of hip-hop, jazz, soul, and electronic, Canadian artist ODIE is a game-changing talent. Strumming an acoustic guitar and inhabiting a cavernous sonic landscape, ODIE shows off his pipes on “Little Lies,” his latest single. Reaching skyward with his vocal hums and rippling electric guitar, ODIE tells a moving love song, encouraging an unnamed other to love a mystery woman with all his heart, perhaps a woman ODIE loved in the past: “Look up, look up, look up, the sky is falling/She’s falling/For you.” “Little Lies” is a devastatingly pretty and wildly ambitious track, switching gears in the middle of its runtime into a chopped-and-screwed version of the first verse. “Little Lies” will appear on Analogue, ODIE’s debut project, arriving this spring.

“I see myself as an analogue artist in a digital age,” says ODIE. The 21-year-old creative carries himself differently than most of today’s musicians. Seemingly any time he releases new music, he achieves well over 500,000 plays on Soundcloud or Spotify. In just a short span of going public with his art, the Toronto-raised, and California-based vocalist/producer has released only a handful of songs. He has just one selectively circulated video and largely refrains from social media. However all of this is set to change. After just seven songs released to the public (including 2017’s “Trance Dance”), ODIE readies his debut project. “It’s sort of my coming of age story,” he notes. “2018 is the year where my fans will be fully introduced to who I am as an artist and as a human, flaws and all.
