Akro At It Again
The latest solo effort from Akrobatik, Absolute Value recently hit the shelves on Tuesday, February 19th, courtesy of Fat Beats Records. After many successful years as an emcee for the Boston-based hip-hop group The Perceptionists, Absolute Value marks the second solo release from Akrobatik. A solid lineup of producers helped to shape the underbelly of the album, featuring beat-makers J-Dilla, Illmind, Beatminerz, 9th Wonder, Hezekiah and J-Zone. Guest emcees are also abound on the new album, including Talib Kweli, Chuck D. of Public Enemy, Mr. Lif, Bumpy Knuckles and Little Brother. The effects of life on the road, enlightening misguided youth, perseverance through the toughest of times, and the continuing struggle of Black America are among the issues Akro tackles on Absolute Value. The first single from the album, “Put Ya Stamp On It” ft. Talib Kweli, sports relentlessly intelligent rhymes over top of a highly captivating beat that will doubtless have hip-hop fans coming back more.

Roccc, Sputnik Brown, Little Vic, and DJ Monster. Tickets are available for purchase at ticketweb.com and Fat Beats NYC. Nicolay & Kay: Sneak Peak
In anticipation of the release of TIME:LINE, Kay has been busy making a four-part documentary-style video in which he breaks down the album song by song. Nicolay, who drops beats for The Foreign Exchange, has produced material for Little Brother, Supastition, Masta Ace and others, released material under his own name, and even started his own record label, brings his producing expertise to the table to accompany Kay’s wicked flow on this upcoming album. Kay Jackson has been one of Houston’s most promising emcees ever since forming his first group Example with longtime best friend DJ Cipher, in 1996. Nicolay & Kay present TIME:LINE, which is scheduled to be released February 2008 on Nicolay Music Recordings.
