Looks like our man Knobody is turning into somebody after all - Nyasha over at onetwoonetwo.com had this to say about Knobody’s album “Tha Clean Up“:
“He ain’t a gansta or a backpacker. He ain’t commercial or underground. He’s the somebody that everybody else is not. Get it? Caught amongst the sea of underground somebodys and overhyped everybodys is this Knobody… Truth be told, this album is both entertaining and intelligent… Nobody is working their hustle harder than Knobody”
OK, I know-what with all the somebody and nobody and anybody talk, some of y’alls heads might be spinning in circles right now. Just get some water, relax, and remember to get your clutches on “Tha Clean Up” when it drops September 18th.

…to 2005. In order to get all of ya’ll excited for the upcoming Junk Science release, we’ve posted the video for “Roads” - from their 2005 release Feeding Einstein - on our YouTube channel. Watch as Junk Science builds a time machine using a potato and an old TV, joined by Scott Thorough and Probe. The new album, Gran’Dad’s Nerve Tonic drops in October!
The advice column has a proud history of people who think they know stuff telling other people what they think they should do. Iller Than Theirs decided they wanted to give it a try. The result is bad, impractical, and just plain whack advice that’s pretty fun to watch. The first couple episodes are on YouTube, peep the first one here. They also have a blog that’s pretty aight…aww who am I kidding, it’s ILL!
Junk Science’s Baje One and Snafu joined the AT team to hit up Blender, Scratch, XXL, and Complex…with beer. Luckily, the antics of this day-long “pub” crawl were caught on tape for your enjoyment.
After you’ve finished watching, head over to the AT YouTube page and check out the Junk Science “Roads” vid.
For those of you who didn’t make it out to the craziness that took over Southpaw July 14th, you can catch live footage of Iller Than Theirs performing “Razor Bumps,” “To Be Ill,” and “Girl Song” at our good ol’ AT YouTube page.
We also couldn’t resist throwing you this old video flyer: Win A Date With Nuclear Family! Definitely in the Top 5 most awesomely ridiculous things I’ve seen today.
Audible Treats has rolled up its collective sleeves once again to reveal Flight 808: a blog showcasing music, videos, and happenings from all corners of the global hip-hop community. Flight808.com will set off on an expedition through the six habitable continents (Antarctica was a bit iced out for our humble beginnings), touching down frequently to survey the music and culture of nations like Brazil, France, and Senegal. You’ve mastered the U.S. hip-hop scene— and with Flight 808 doing all of your homework for you, why not branch out?
Flight 808 will focus on a different nation or theme every week, posting 2-3 short editorials alongside downloadable music and links to videos on the web. Foreign hip-hop fans and artists are encouraged to get involved and submit content or even write on behalf of their respective homelands. A truly international effort, Flight808.com has landed.
We know you’ve already hit up HHNLive.com to enter, but now you have even more chances to win a pair of Stunna Shades™, a couple cans of 18 Dummy™, and a CD copy of the Federation single “College Girl.” To triple your chances of winning, head over to Starpulse.com and HipHopDX to enter.

Don’t you just love it when people from your various friend circles can come together and become friends themselves? Audible Treats is experiencing that warm, fuzzy feeling as Embedded label mates Iller Than Theirs and Junk Science get set to tour with Devin the Dude, Bukue One, and the one and only Del the Funky Homosapien. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare your calendars! They’ll be headed across the continental U.S.– from Boston to Utah– taking only one nght off. Looks like this “rap music” may catch on after all… so don’t miss the boat:
We love our boy T-Pain. The ladies love T-Pain. Even the men are diggin the rappa ternt sanga. But oh damn, even the critics are showing the Tallahassee native some love! Check out Jeff Bracco’s thoughts on the man who has “breathed life into the (R&B) genre” on The Owl. While you’re at it, stop by his MySpace and iMeem pages to say what’s up.
Looking for a fresh take on “Buy U A Drank”? Hip-hop’s leading man Kanye West is bringing you a hot new remix of the #1 Billboard single. Check out the streams for a powerhouse, late summer remix of an early summer smash.
Nearly 3 1/2 months after his “debut” release, A-Plus continues to receive outstanding reviews; it seems “My Last Good Deed” has never met a reviewer it didn’t like. Case in point: our man Quentin B. Huff over at PopMatters.com. Over the course of 15 plump, verbose, and contemplative paragraphs, Mr. Huff eventually calls My Last Good Deed “the “sleeper” hip-hop album of the year, with critics and diehards praising its consistency but nevertheless forgetting to name it on our eventual lists of recommended CDs.”
So for all those Quentin B. Huffs out there who are a bit late to discover A-Plus’ album, know that it’s not too late to get your hands on “the sleeper hip-hop album of the year.” Do the right thing, if only for your ears.
Hey hip-hop peoples, we’ve got a party for you to check out. Junk Science will be at Galapagos in Williamsburg, Brooklyn this Thursday (that’s the 9th of August). Ladies are free before 10, $3 vodka all night, and $4 beers from 10-12. Galapagos is 70 N6th St in BK for those who don’t know, and Junk Science will be on the main stage. THE Grandmaster Caz (Cold Crush Brothers) will be there too.
Are you writing all this down? Cool, we’ll see you there. Until then, listen to “Hey” and count down the hours.
