Akro At It Again
The latest solo effort from Akrobatik, Absolute Value recently hit the shelves on Tuesday, February 19th, courtesy of Fat Beats Records. After many successful years as an emcee for the Boston-based hip-hop group The Perceptionists, Absolute Value marks the second solo release from Akrobatik. A solid lineup of producers helped to shape the underbelly of the album, featuring beat-makers J-Dilla, Illmind, Beatminerz, 9th Wonder, Hezekiah and J-Zone. Guest emcees are also abound on the new album, including Talib Kweli, Chuck D. of Public Enemy, Mr. Lif, Bumpy Knuckles and Little Brother. The effects of life on the road, enlightening misguided youth, perseverance through the toughest of times, and the continuing struggle of Black America are among the issues Akro tackles on Absolute Value. The first single from the album, “Put Ya Stamp On It” ft. Talib Kweli, sports relentlessly intelligent rhymes over top of a highly captivating beat that will doubtless have hip-hop fans coming back more.
