Wrapping his elastic flow over bouncy and bass-heavy beats, Vallejo’s Nef The Pharaoh is the leader of the Bay Area’s new wave of emcees. Teaming up with Watts, CA cult hero 03 Greedo for a collaborative project, Nef The Pharaoh announces Porter2Grape, their upcoming EP. One of the final projects to be released before 03 Greedp begins his 20-year prison term, Porter2Grape is a study in contrasting approaches to the art of rhyming, as 03’s inventive melodicism and locked-in conversational style perfectly complements Nef’s hyperactive witticisms. Hitting the internet on June 22nd, the blistering 5-track Porter2Grape is currently available for pre-order via EMPIRE.

Demonstrating their chemistry over a bass-heavy, new-school hyphy instrumental, 03 and Nef share “Ball Out,“ the project’s lead single. A rapidfire display of virtuosic rhymes from the two emcees and their guest, Oakland rapper ALLBLACK, “Ball Out” is a veritable carnival of bars, all culminating in ALLBLACK’s percussive hook. Premiered by COMPLEX, the new single is an exhilarating glimpse into the project and an excellent example of the outrageous talent level of the new West Coast.

Breaking through with his self-titled 2015 EP and its big single “Big Tymin‘,” the 23-year-old Nef The Pharaoh quickly established himself as one of the most unique and popular emcees in the Bay. Signed to E-40’s Sick Wid It Records, the charismatic emcee is a fixture on regional radio, releasing an acclaimed collaborative EP with Cardo Got Wingz (Kendrick Lamar, Drake) in 2016 and hitting in 2017 with “Bling Blaow,” which featured Slimmy B of SOB x RBE. Earlier this year, Nef shared “Big Boss Chang,” which landed on Spotify’s Most Necessary playlist, and is currently working on The Boss Chang Theory, his upcoming debut album.

Praised by Jeff Weiss as “the best rapper from Vallejo since the last great rapper from Vallejo,” the legendMac Dre being his predecessor, 21 -year-old Nef The Pharaoh is one of the Bay Area’s most exciting young emcees. Signed to E-40‘s Sick Wid It Records, Nef The Pharaoh delivered his debut retail release, a self-titled EP, in November 2015 to high critical praise. Featuring the breakthrough radio hit “Big Tymin’,” which charted at #34 on San Francisco’s 106 KMEL‘s Top 106 Songs of 2015 and earned more than 7.7 million views on YouTube, the Nef The Pharaoh EP firmly established the rapper on the national scene.
